Hi, I just found this forum (that I wish I had found a long time ago) and I was wondering if anybody has some advice for me. As you can see by my handy timeline, the California Service Center recieved my visa on November 24, 2008 and I have had ABSOLUTELY NO updates, touches, e-mails, requests for evidence, nothing. NOTHING.

I finally called USCIS last week, three days after the 6 month processing time was SUPPOSED to have ended, and was transferred to somebody who said that they would request a service request. Unfortunately, when she tried to submit the request, the computer apparently told her that they were still working on visas recieved on November 15, 2008 and since the whole system is behind, she can't file a request just for me. She suggested that I call back in ten days, which I did, and was informed that apparently they are STILL working on the visas for November 15. I got upset and told them that they told me that last week and she transferred me to a 'senior customer service representative', who told me that they can't do anything and that I should just wait. The only good thing that he said to me is that apparently my case has adequate evidence because they would have sent a request for more evidence if needed by now.

Looking at all of the people on this forum whose visas have been granted who applied waaaaaaaaaaay after mine, I somehow doubt that what these people are saying on the phone to me is true.

I have been reading some of the posts on this forum, one referring to contacting your local congresspeople and having them ask USCIS what is going on with your case... How exactly would somebody go about doing that? I found links to the local congresspeople's websites, ect., I just don't know how to go about asking them to look into my case for me.

I also had some questions about infopass. They wouldn't (couldn't?) file a request for service over the phone, perhaps they would if I went in person. Does anybody have any advice or experience concerning infopass that they would care to pass on?

I'm getting pretty desperate. Not only have we been seperated for over seven months now (he lived with me here in the US *LEGALLY* until he lost his job and his visa due to the economy and went back to wait for a fiance visa) but he only managed to get a 6 month job contract in Japan because his friend helped him and is now out of a job because the 6 months is up. Anybody who knows how Japan's job system works knows that it is IMPOSSIBLE to get a short-term job over there, so things are looking not so great. I really appreciate any advice that you fellow visa veterens can give me.

ugh, my laptop messed up.

Hey, I'm a September filer. My approval of the I129F was in mid-April.

My fiance called the USCIS when it was processing and they told him the same thing. Just wait. I thought the same thing and got very frustrated with them. I mean, a lot of people were getting approved before me! And they say they're working on cases in order. I don't think thats true.

But it seems like they don't need anything else from you. I guess all you can do is wait. I'm guessing you'll get approved soon. You should start gathering papers needed for the interview if you haven't done that already.

And yes, getting a short term job in Japan is very difficult. I really hope they would speed up the process and get to your case!

Anyway, good luck!

Look around on the reps website. A lot of them have a specific form to fill out for a service request or a number of someone to call. If you don't see that, then just contact the office and they can point you in the right direction. And I would contact them ASAP. WHo knows how long you could be stuck in this limbo. No point in waiting.

Thanks for the replies! I went to the representative's websites and looked around, there were guides about how to ask for assistance very plainly written. I'm scheduling an infopass appointment (figure it couldn't hurt, and the websites say that you should try that before contacting the senators, so I'll have at least one more thing to complain to them about if they don't do anything) and I'll contact the senators that same day if nothing is done. I'm tired of sitting around just waiting, so I have to do something. This is ridiculous. At least there kind of is a light at the end of the tunnel at this point. Maybe.

It makes me worried that another person from Japan had a similar experience though. I wonder if it means anything.
