I have petioned for my fiance and her two children son, age 19, and daughter, age 18 for K1 visa.

Everything is going well and have visa interview scheduled in 2 weeks, but today the son has decided he no longer wants to come to America.

Will the son's change of heart/mind adversely effect my fiance and her daughter's ability to be issued their visas?

Thank you for any and all responses.

No. And he can change his mind again and come to join within one year. If he is unsure, it is best to wait as his visa will be valid for only 6 months once issued. He can choose to wait up to one year then still have 6 months on the visa. So, in essence, can take up to 1-1/2 tears to decide.

If he does not wnat to do it now, just process the applications for your fiancee and her daughter. It is a rare opportunity for him though, best to make use of it, he can always decide later to return.

You are right ! with children being Unpredictable,

Your situation caught my attention as I am a mom with two boys, One has been living in Canada.

My son who lives in USA FL he is 24 petitioned me to move to US with him ( I want to be near my grandchildren)

My son here in Canada has many friends and a Great Job he is only 21. We are supposed to move to the USA together ...he says he wants too, then when hes with his friends and stuff he changes his mind.

Its been an ongoing discussion.

Keep your chin up , I bet your fiance is doing everything to talk him into it...

Best Wishes

Where can I find information about the son changing his mind again deciding to apply for his visa within 6 months?

Should I email the US Embassy before our interview date to explain the son's decision not to apply for his visa at this time or wait until the appointment to explain in person?

Thank you, all replies have been very helpul!

You don't need any special information. Children of a K-1 visa holder (umarried and under age 21) are eligible to apply for a K-2 visa at the consulate within ine year of the issuance of the K-1. IF he decides to do this, call and makean appojntment for an interview, bring the necessary documents to the interview and...VOILA!When the visa is issued he wil have 6 months to use it. Youdo not have to explain anything. Simply list him on your fiancees visa application as a child "to follow".

We did this with one of our two sons, he had conflicts with his college education. One came with my wife in September, the other will come in July. He has his visa interview June 25

My pleasure. I do not know how much influence you or his mother have on his decision. My wife is Ukrainian, Ukrainian mothers decide everything. :) Anyway, our sons wanted to come but they also recognized it as a wonderful opportunity to expand future choices in life. He is 18, I hope you can encourage him to JUMP on this! He can come, get his green card, go back and forth, finish school there if her chooses and can decide to become a citizen...or not. When he is a bit older and educated, he can make informed decisions, but this will give him many opportunities he cannot other wise take advantage of in the future (or it will be much harder) I mean, people commit all sorts of FRAUD to get a green card and he is essentially, being handed one gratis! I hope he decides to do this. Good luck
