Yeah as they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder!

It's about thinking the minority or exotic (less frequently seen by that group) are rare and thus beautiful to us. I have to agree...being a blonde, I'm just one in a million here in the US but when you travel to other countries its amazing how they view your hair, your skin, your eyes, etc. My SIL is always touching my hair and loves my skin. I am not particularly fond of either! Where as, I LOVE her hair color, the thickness of her hair and smooth creamy skin. *sigh* Grass is always greener! :star:

LOVE~~

God is the center of EVERYTHING--even intertwined in the language

My Moroccan Family...especially Mama, Oukhti, and Jadah

Being surrounded by the sound of Arabic speech

4-8 hour walks with my honey

My groom's best friend Mohammed..."Bark the car and get a Bebsi"...he's so funny

Everyone all around the table sharing meals together

Djemma el Fna in Marrakech at night

Danette Dulce de Leche pudding cups...don't know if they have it elsewhere, but not here in US

Fruit stands

Hormone-free/genetically pure food

FRESH SQUEEZED OJ (La Sucre!)

The VERY HEAVY blankets in December

How the little loaves of bread cost about 12 cents US

Shepherds tending their sheep all over the countryside

My MIL's msemmen

How everyone hugs and kisses to greet one another

The Atlantic Ocean

The price of Saffron

How they make a separate pot of tea for me without sugar added

The mitts used at the Hammam...it's like shark skin sandpaper....

Moroccan women...so sweet

The simplicity of life

Laughter

MY GROOM

Hate~~

The CRAZY traffic

Taking your life into your own hands crossing the streets in Marrakech...we almost died! LOL

Public restrooms...praise God my family all had western toilets!!!

Lack of climate control in the homes

"Be right back" or "Just a minute"...can mean up to 4 hours later (or so...)

It takes FOREVER to get from one city to another

Sometimes aren't heard/listened to because ur a woman

Sugar is in every beverage

Seeing my MIL and SIL cry

Limited public displays of affection...but he never let go of my hand...EVER

How it's always either "time to eat" or "almost time to eat"...."khooli khooli"...

That pooridge/soup stuff for breakfast

Having to say "Goodbye"

:ot:

I have been thinking about dying my hair dark... :whistle But I'm nervous and I have never colored my hair before...only highlights/low lights, nothing more.

Your MIL wouldn't recognize you  What about some soft, light reddish highlights for summer?

LOVE~~

Danette Dulce de Leche pudding cups...don't know if they have it elsewhere, but not here in US

oooh I love those, too ! My husband would always turn them carmel side up on a nice plate and serve them to me for dessert (L) How about the extensive variety of Laughing Cow cheeses and those cute little tins and zippered pouches in gift paks ? I miss the exotic smells, walking, beautiful coffee shops, my family... *Sigh *

Love:

My husband :)

The people/friends over there. Everyone is so helpful and nice

The weather - a big difference from Minnesota

The food!!! Harira especially

Walking around everywhere

Zaytouns! (olives)

Camels

Med Sea

Shopping

Hearing the call for the prayers. Even though I'm not Muslim it's still beautiful to hear

Hate:

The toilets :)

the people who don't look before crossing the street

the drivers

how there is no parking anywhere

That's about it :)

LOVE:

-the climate, the beauty

-my new family

-the parties (music + people = party)

-the patois dialect

-how happy people are, despite having little and having to work very hard for very little.

-the food!!

HATE:

-not understanding Patois except when my husband talks.

-how laid back people can be. No big deal if it takes almost an hour to get your food and drink.

-that when I go to visit, I have to leave my husband behind.
