Hi all,

My husband had his interview today at the Moscow Embassy, and it seemed to go well, but they said he'll need to go through an extra security check because of his profession. He's an engineer, and so he's been put on "Admin Processing" status until we turn in a copy of his CV and the check is run. This is supposed to take an additional 3 weeks.

BUT they kept his passport. That's a good sign, right? The oficer wouldn't tell him if he'd be approved or not after the check. Just said something along the lines of "we'll see."

Has this happened to anyone else? How long did it take?

He's had this check done before when getting a B1 visa, so you'd think they'd have all his stats on file and he'd be good to go. *sighs* More waiting . . .

Finally found a bit more information on the subject after quite a bit of fruitless online searching.

If your fiance or spouse is studying/studied in certain subject areas or worked/works in certain professions on the TAL list, they will probably have the added joy of this extra security check.

The jobs/areas of study all have to do with technology or science.

A readable explanation of the TAL list is here: http://www.fhcrc.org/about/jobs/immig/The_..._Alert_List.doc (This will open up a word document. I just downloaded it myself, and it seems safe, so don't be alarmed).

You can help speed up the process (a bit) by having your fiance/spouse bring a copy of their current CV with them to the inteview.

I wish we'd known about this before hand! We thought it only applied to nonimmigrant visas, but alas, no.

Awesome info....thanks!

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.
