Has anyone experienced scheduling their medical AFTER the K-1 Interview at the US Embassy in the UK? My fiance had his interview on Tuesday and was approved for the Visa pending his medical which he had on Thursday. The US Embassy in the UK has his Passport and has given us mixed messages on when he'll receive it back with the Visa. We heard once that it takes 3-5 days for the medical results, and once 10-15 days. Also, that it takes 3-5 days after the consulate receives the medical results to issue the Visa. Does anyone have any experience with this that could tell us how long to expect to wait? Is there any way to expedite the medical results? He is trying to book his flights and make other arrangements. Thanks!!

Nothing to worry about, a lot of people book their medical the day after or just the day before their interview to combine trips to London.

Regarding your plane tickets, I don't think you should buy it yet.

The embassy computers were down today, which may throw a wrench into things. Even if your medical results get there fast, there might be a delay of a few extra days while they clear backlog.

What if things get lost in the mail, what if there's a typo you need to get fixed?

Only you can decide what sort of risk you are willing to take - if you book now and the visa doesn't arrive in time, are you willing to eat the cost and pay for a new one? If you book now at a "safe" time out and the visa gets here early, are you willing to wait?

You must decide.

ONE data point: Mrs_SDP got her visa 6 days after her medical (5/13 - 5/19). I think that sounds like it's on the fast side. As others say, "your milage my vary!!!"
