Today I was going to send away for A simplified renewal Canadian Passport which expired March.

But next month I can possibly get my Interview in Montreal and have the American Passport.

My Question is:

1. Do I need to have the Passport to enter the US Consolate building , will my Drivers License be okay, ( I still have my expired passport too)

The Renewal for just period of a couple of months would only cost 87.00. but still I was wondering if I should go ahead with it.

Thanks for your :help:

You must.

You are a bit confused on this point. If your visa is approved you will be a U.S. permanent resident - not a U.S. citizen. You will not be entitled to have a U.S. passport.

You can apply for naturalization after 3 years as a U.S. permanent resident (ie: citizenship).

They put your U.S. visa in your Canadian passport - if you don't have one at the interview - no visa.

You're going to have to provide more details. What are you going to the US Consulate for? What is the purpose of the interview? If it's for a visa, then what type of visa?

You said in the title "American son". Are you a US citizen?

EDIT: Ok, nevermind. I just saw your other thread. You'll need a valid Canadian passport to get the visa. You won't get a US passport unless you become a US citizen.

Normal time is 4 to 6 weeks, but if you pay for an expedite you can get it usually in less than two weeks.
