Charles, seriously there is a fundamental difference between a contract between two people and one that encompasses multiple people. It's not evening things out to include more people, it's fundamentally changing the contract.

So it's just a legal stumbling block which prevents you from letting all people decide what their marriage will consist of.

You are willing to suspend nearly all of Western history/tradition and all normal biological law to bless gays but a wife with two husbands would be more than our legal minds could handle?

MC, thats Good.

We we decide if people have "Rights" do we conclude that if this person does not have enough representation (population)... we don't grant them certain rights.... you know, like the right to vote or the right to free speech or the right to emergency care.

Considering that.... what about a brother and sister who want to marry? is that a legal dead end too?

oh god, another 21 year old who knows it all.

Excuse me? Where did I say that I "knew it all"?

I said that there is "some" biological pattern going on with the brain organisation with sexual orientation. I didn't say what that pattern was, or to what extent it existed, either. I've spent several months studying this and think I have some knowledge on the subject, at least more than most people do when they speculate one way or the other, when they know nothing of the science or research behind it.

And my being 22 has nothing to do with it.

Get off your high horse.

It doesn't matter - if you have an apartment that contains may leather bound books and which smells of rich mahogany, you are an expert by default ;)

I never believed homosexuality had anything to do with genes... if that were true wouldn't it run in families? (at least a little more consistently).

To me it makes sense that homosexuality is simply a fetish - it's something we see and do and think and feel that we enjoy. Some people like feet, collect shoes, and masturbate to the thought of toes. It's not so different for gays... albeit, a gay person who chooses an actively gay lifestyle invests a lot more in the fetish than someone who simply enjoys wearing a mask in the bedroom.

I know that most women at least to some degree check out other women - whether to compare, criticize, admire, whatever. Does this mean all those women are bisexual? Not necessarily. I enjoy looking at other women, because let's face it, women are hot! And in the past I have not turned down mild sexual encounters with another female. However, I've never entertained the thought of dating another woman, of being in a loving relationship with another woman - for me, it's purely physical, and I have always pursued men as my significant other. That shows that there is some level of choice. I admit to myself that yes, women are lovely, but I have then made the choice of how far I want to pursue that. "True" gays (and I use that term loosely, don't read into it) take it all the way. Some gays don't - I personally know of a closet gay who is married with children because social circumstances made him afraid to pursue what he would rather have chosen.

My reasoning isn't based on anything other than personal opinion, and I don't claim to know much of anything about genetics, but take it how you will :)

How about it Shooter? Care to answer the young lady?

well, i was out riding a nitro methane swing arm motorbike up a 300 foot hill yesterday so i didn't see that i had been "corrected" by a child. i love it when a child corrects me, and when my hecklers shout raucously from the balcony.

truth is, the young lady has been in kollege for 4 years now, and has been indoctrinated by a pervasively leftist and extremist educational system that panders to homosexuality, and is rife with such. i'm proud of her to have enough common sense after all that brainwashing to say only that there "appears to be some indefinable connection", to paraphrase. i am sure that her mentors are fuming at the failure to turn her into a total moron like so many kollege graduates. now, as soon as she gets out into the real world and figures out that refrigerators with ice and water in the door cost $300 more than those without, she'll understand everything. until then, somebody else is paying the bill, so the opinion has little weight.

 So noone who has spent any time studying a given topic can be any more well versed on it than "the shooter" - especially if they are:

1) in their 20s

2) a woman

Your arrogance is simply beautiful to behold.

The only one acting like a child is you.

You don't need to refer to me in the third person. Speak to me as an adult.

Brainwashing? If that's what you think education is, then I feel pity for you and any children that you have/might have. For your information, I didn't say anything about what the biological connection was because it is a very broad topic and thought perhaps it wasn't the place here in the OT forum. Especially seeing as I wasn't even talking about the genetics, either. That's a heavily debated topic in itself, I was referring to the link between sexual orientation and brain lateralisation. For you to take what little I said and run with it, labelling it as only common sense and making personal judgements about me only makes YOU look like the child.

Psychology isn't about feeding common sense or abstract information, it's about research, statistics, biology, sociology, evolution, and generally gaining a well-rounded base of insight about a particular subject. I have never claimed to know everything about the subject and that's what psychology is about; finding new information and broadening your mindset; learning new things and not just dismissing them without enough critical analysis.

And since you're so focused on common sense, I have plenty of that too. I'm aware that I'm young and will grow a lot in the coming years, and will learn a lot of things. I accept that readily. You don't even know me. Do you know what I've experienced in my lifetime? Have you ever as much as had a conversation with me? I have enough common sense to stand on my own two feet in the "real" world, experience new things, make friendships, manage money/work; and yes, have "real-life" experiences; and also find some extra sense to know that it's not necessary to belittle others around you.

As someone brought up in a free country and moving to another, I am able and willing to give my opinion wherever I please. You're free to do the same of course, but you should probably be aware that such judgemental and narrow-minded comments make you look like an ignorant tool.
