We met on MySpace and talked not quite long enough before we were talking about me going to visit him in Egypt. We never said 'I love you' or anything like that cause we both wanted to be sure we were that into each other first in person. Before I knew it I was there! We went to the pyramids on a Tuesday, then had a late lunch and were both kinda tired and quiet. We were relaxing, doing nothing cause it was too hot to move, and he popped his head up and said "do you say 'do you marry me' or 'will you marry me'", being a dork I tried to explain the difference. He waited about 2 minutes after I shut up and he looked at me and said "will you marry me?" I had to smile and said yes. He jumped up and said "good, now I can show you your ring!" We got married 4 days later. Just had our 3 year anniversary, finally together.:wub:

I'm really late in this, but my husband didn't do an official proposal. When I met my husband, it was during a stressful time at school. I had came back from volunteering with Hurricane Katrina victimes in LA and just found out my roommate's mother passed from cancer. Two days later I had a dream that my father had given me over to a Muslim man. Don't know why, but at that very moment my husband called me for the first time and told me he had wanted to talk to me and that my father had given him my number. My father lives in Morocco with his wife and my little brother. I brushed him off for a couple of hours and then finally decided to meet him on yahoo. The first day that i met him he said that he wanted to marry me after talking with me for 5 hours, I told him he was crazy. After 6 months of talking everyday for long hours, I finally decided ok I will go to Morocco. During my whole 2 week trip in July of 2007 the proposal wasn't really discussed. Then one day my husband came up to me in front of all his family and said "I want you to marry me Casandra, there is no one for me, but you. Please do not tell me no, I cannot live without you." Now here is the crazy part, rather than him having a ring on hand, all of us (my husband, his family, my stepmother and I) went to go pick out our rings together. Wish it were a little more private, but it is what it was and I love him very much.

Well we met online and knew we are meant to be from day one. We talked from 8 to 15 hours every day online... Then four months later and after I have talked my family about him and how special he is to me, he asked me "When I come see you and if I ask you 'will you marry me?', would you say 'YES'?... I paused for a little and knew in heart, this was going to happen and I said 'Yes...'.. Four months later we met, once we saw each other it was amazing, I knew deep inside this was a dream coming true and I want to spend the rest of my life with him.. We drove to his hotel and I left to let him sleep and relax... The next morning I picked him up and we had a wonderful time at Salahdin Citadel, the Nile, ate lunch, and we were like we knew each other for ages... That afternoon we stopped at the hotel again, cause he wanted to get something.. We got on a cab quick and were heading to a mall, then he held my hand and I felt the ring box... We smiled at each other and look at each others' eyes for a while.. I had the ring box in my hand the whole time till we got to the mall and sat at Costa Cafe.. We sat facing each other.. I closed my eyes and he got the ring out and put it on my finger... It was more beautiful than my dream ring! We said 'I love you' and held each others' hands for God knows how long..:luv:

He told me to come to jordan... i did. he picked me up from the airport, something heavy hit me in back of the head..i passed out, he stuffed me in the trunk of the car. I woke up in the courthouse and he told me to just answer yes or na'am to anything the judge said. I signed my name to some long huge peice of paper and he said i had just married him. best kidnapping experience EVER!

teehee

oh what really happened? nothing overly romantic. he told me he loved me so much, and we should get married so that i could be his wife forever and that was that.

"you fondle my trigger then you blame my gun"

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

Aya, that is so sweet!!

Lisa....you are so funny! I think the kidnapping story is the one to stick with!

As for Ahmed and me....well when Ahmed and I started dealing with each other he was quick to profess his love for me and that he wanted to marry me. I wasn't so sure. Although, I knew I wanted an Egyptian man I was hoping to find one that was Americanized (I thought he would be, since he used to live here for almost 5 years). Well come to find out he's still a boater at heart! :P Anyhow, during Ramadan of 2007 it hit me: Here is a good man, who fears God, loves me AND my son to pieces, will do anything to make me happy and has already asked me numerous times to marry him. So I brought it up again and we mutually agreed to get married. He asked to speak to my mom about it. They talked and she agreed. So that was that.

My husband put a ring in my drink. He was acting all nervous and I thought it was strange. When the ring touched my lips, I shrieked and thought it was a bug. Guess it didn't go as romantic as he thought it would.

Abdel didn't propose. He was talking on the phone to his father on one of his visits to see me, and he said to his father "I found the one I want to marry". It kinda made my heart stop for a moment, since he wasn't actually talking to *me*, yet I was right next to him. That was it :):star:
