Things can be tempered tho...it doesn't ALWAYS have to be p!ss & vinegar 24/7.

I am one for speaking my mind, but sometimes it wouldn't hurt to see the good with the bad..

I completely agree with that. There are a lot of things I love... just absolutley LOVE about the US, and would really miss if I were away from them.

I just don't see how someone who loves every little thing about America is more worthy to enter the country to be with someone they love than someone who only expresses negativity.

Maybe he's just a glass-is-half-empty guy?

Maybe so...who knows? I also don't believe someone who is more positive is worth more...but the way I see it...it's always summat bad with Gstq. It's like, TO ME, he speaks with such a loathing as if he were talking about having to bathe in a river of sh!t. And I scratch my head and think 'hrmm'.

I have no problem with people calling it the way they see it....but also, when you're doing so based on oversimplified stereotypes & presumption...instead of knowlegde & experience...well sometimes ya gotta say

Well I was going to post here about futbol.

I guess I will go and post about soccer scores and why the US Women's pro soccer league went out of business on the Flag Waving thread.

Backstory: Five good reasons Americans don't watch soccer

By Chuck Cohen

1. We didn't invent it.

Americans love their inventions. Which is why we like baseball. And why we're not big on foie gras. Why we can't live a day without a microwave. And why we can, and have, lived for centuries without lederhosen. The problem with America and soccer is that we can't say we had anything to do with its genesis. Unlike, say, our pride in both Chicken McNuggets and Ryan Seacrest.

Sorry, I got news for you guys, baseball was not invented by americans but by romanians

mdyoung,

How far outside of Baltimore are you, and in which direction? Apparently outside of the WAGS area.

Yodrak

The problem is that most kids in the U.S. aren't exposed to soccer at a young age to take an interest in it. My daughter's 4th grade gym class did not play any soccer. My wife works at a neighborhood Summer camp and she tried to get the kids to play soccer and the kids (mostly black) said soccer sucks we want to play basketball.

godsavethequeen,

Maybe, if you're speaking only of men, but US women are world class football players.

Yodrak

There are another reason:-

Because Americans hate to come second, you'll play a game no other country plays and then call a competition a World Series!! when only one other country plays it. The Football (soccer for you USers) World Cup is competed in by nearly every country on the globe. You'd hate to be defeated by a smaller insignificant country, France for example!! You could not take it. Americams hate to lose. The rest of the world understands the feeling of believing in victory then the downer of defeat. ....
