I was a product of adoption.

me and my twin were placed up for adoption at birth. i know we were bigger than an egg.

but, my mom and dad were the happiest on earth. with their set of twins..

The idea of helping someone is great, I too don´t think I´d have a problem with having my DNA going about. And remember, the sperm wouldn´t be from my husband so it´s not even as if they were my child anyway.

The money is tempting as well, but the side effects and risks, dunno.

putting philantrophy aside, along with the financial bonus to your checking account ... the advert you provided reads more like a firm for eugenics and selective breeding.

am i against them or someone donating? nah ... there are times when two people fall in love and may have recessive traits which prohibit them from having a child, one or both in the relationship may not physically be able to conceive a child, or same sex marriages ... i don't think couples should have to remain childless when there are these methods available.

i don't think that we need to have facilities that only take eggs/sperm from those who have "who have exceptional qualities of attractiveness, intelligence, success and personality". what is exceptional?

The ads squick me out because the people are trying to breed a child. You just know the kid is going to be enrolled in a competitive pre-school and the parents are going to be mild racists.

But -- maybe not everyone posting an ad is like that. Were it I making the decision, I'd only do it for a nice couple and only if I were apprised fully of the health risks.

Yeah while on the one hand it's flattering, like, wow I'm "exceptional" on the other hand.....gross. I think I might do it through NYU instead. Just seems so much more....scientific?

But as for helping only a nice couple... I kind of don't even want to meet them. That's just weird. In fact if they wanted to meet me, I'd kind of have a problem with that. I'd be apprehensive about donating to a couple who wanted to see what my personality was like in order to better select their future child. :::shudders:::
