I thought I had heard it all..... But this takes the Kakh! (or Cake, if you're not married to an Egyptian....)

YAHOO NEWS - ASSOCIATED PRESS

By SARAH EL DEEB, Associated Press Writer Sarah El Deeb, Associated Press Writer

Mon Jun 1, 12:18 am ET CAIRO – A 25-year-old Egyptian man cut off his own ####### to spite his family after he was refused permission to marry a girl from a lower class family, police reported Sunday.

After unsuccessfully petitioning his father for two years to marry the girl, the man heated up a knife and sliced off his reproductive organ, said a police official.

The young man came from a prominent family in the southern Egyptian province of Qena, one of Egypt's poorest and most conservative areas that is also home to the famed ancient Egyptian ruins of Luxor.

The man was rushed to the hospital but doctors were unable to reattach the severed member, the official added citing the police report filed after the incident.

The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak with the press, added that the man was still recovering in the hospital.

Traditionally, marriages in these conservative part of southern Egypt are between similar social classes and often within the same extended families — and are rarely for love.

For those of you trying to make a SHRED of SENSE out of this, According to my Saidi husband this is actually a "punishment" to they guy's family, because by doing this he is ruining their chances for having more grandchildren from him... (offspring are a form of Saidi Social Security)

Having your children become parents and give you tons of grandchildren is soooo important that he could "cut off his wing wang to SPITE THEM"!!!! Go figure....

I am sorry but arranged marriages are NOT for everyone.

There may be some who can be satisfied with the choice their parents make for them, but there are some people who are keen to the idea that they should #1 be given the chance to make their own choices in life #2 know the partner with whom they are going to spend their life with and #3 knowing the partner would give way to choosing and loving them.

This shows again that LOVE will make you do crazy things and when forced into a life long obligation such as marriage or even kept from the one you love, it will end up disastrous.

I hope over time people from this rigid culture can open their minds a little more.

I see this as another Romeo and Juliet.

Sounds like he wasn't going to let his family DICTATE policy to him.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

He also spited himself because he won't have children to take care of him when he needs them.

Very true!

I dont feel too sorry for him bcz he did it to himself. That was surely a dumb thing to do... I wonder if hes regretting it now...

He's a dummy!

"..wing wang"

does she still want to marry him?

"you fondle my trigger then you blame my gun"

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

Had abstinence ever crossed his mind?

'Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming 'WOO HOO, What a Ride'
