Hello,

This is my first posting! My son and I have been going through this process for a while our application started in July 2006. I wish I had found Visa Journey a couple of years ago ... if you know what I mean.

A couple of questions to get ready for the interview.

We will be attending the Consolate interview in Montreal.

1. What is the approximate time frame to get the interview date?

2. On the cklist letter which was e-mailed to me April 28 it ask's that we need to bring to the interview the 2007 tax return and we are also bringing 2008.

a) Will this delay my process because the 2007 and 2008 tax return were not there for them to conclude that we are in 125% of poverty guideline( my son tell's me we are in the guidelines , he is an electrician .) just worried that they can still make a decision at the interview after receiving tax return?

3. Should I be expecting an information package?(interview date, medical etc) by mail? or e-mail?

From what I have read at VJ (fantastic information by the way) we should be getting letters from his employer, and Afadavids ? from people ?

Any other info will be greatly appreciated.

Thank-you

Hi

Once your case is complete at NVC you will be assigned a interview date (timeframe varies for each country) you will get a email with the interview letter and a list of the things needed at the interview. Look down that list and each item listed has a code next to it that will tell you if they need you to bring it to the interview or if they already have it or if it not applicable. The email will also give you the link to arrange your medical and any other info you need about the embassy where your interview will be.

No one can say if you will get approval at your interview, but they will review all information and documents at the interview.

Good Luck

1. What is the approximate time frame to get the interview date?

Right now the wait time, for Montreal, between completion at NVC and interview is around 2-3 months. It is about the same as IR1/CR1 interview wait times. A tracking list for those is here: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...t&p=2978034

Absolutely they can make a decision based on the tax returns presented at the interview. Your Son has mentioned that he is above 125% of the poverty guidelines - so it shouldn't be a problem.

I don't know why, in the case of sponsorship of a parent, you would need an affidavit of any type. This really pertains to marriage/engagement based visas.

As for the letter from his employer, this is just additional information that can be requested if they want to verify his current income - have him give you one if it would make you feel more comfortable.

You may want to check out the Canada page of the VJ Wiki http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/Canada - you will find information there on which police check to ask for, a sample interview letter for IR1 - which will be very similar to yours and some good links.
