I dragged hubby from lovely and gorgeous Vancouver to living in the boonies of northern New Hampshire. We are considering moving somewhere, but just not sure where. Part of me really wants to return to NW Georgia, where I was living when I met hubby. I have a bunch of friends there and hubby loves the heat. However, now that we have a baby, we've been thinking it might be nice to be a bit closer to my family in CT. Who knows! Facebook tells me I should move to Nevada (with their oh so accurate quizzes).

From Colorado Springs to Denver to get married and live...

I love the springs! (L)

I find the Carolinas far hotter than Florida. It seems to be more of an intense heat there, even if they're the same temperature. There's almost always a nice breeze here. I guess because we're a thin strip between two bodies of water.

Ya know what? I think I might agree. My fiance lived in NC for the first year of our relationship and dannnng. I went down for the 4th of July one year and I wanted to take my skin off it was so darn hot. Hottest weather I had ever experienced. The humidity there also seems quite high, so that probably doesn't really help the head situation. However, I've never been to Florida in the heat of the summer... I'll get back to you in August!

lol! SC is wicked hot to me, I just got back on Tuesday, it was 90 when I left at 7 am. ( and 58!! when I landed in Buffalo, so cold here I have slept in a hoodie) If Florida is hotter then SC I better stay far away unless its winter. Sumter isn't too far North of Charleston I think, we went to Fort Sumter last fall and it was pretty... well kinda boring unless you like the civil war... But we did see dolphins in the harbor on the way back. (I'm practising my American spelling)

I went to university in S.C. (Clemson University). July through September you literally think you're going to melt. Just wait til you see the palmetto bugs.

I loved SC when I visited there, actually the temperatures were below normal last Sept, but still very nice!! My fiances grandparents live on Kiawah Island, SC, a nice short bike ride to the beach, man it was beautiful, but probably a 30-45 min drive to Charleston. You should see the waterfront houses!! Wow! What freaked me out about Kiawah though is the wildlife aka. Alligators that are lurking in the ponds next to the golf courses in your own backyard sometimes and of course on all the bike and walking paths around Kiawah. Its the tourists that feed them that screw them up and make them not fear humans, but most of the the time if you stay away from them they won't bother you.

I'm moving from Ottawa, ON to Tulsa, OK. Tulsa is um... interesting. I find it cute that there is a "bail bonds" area of town (perhaps that is normal in the U.S. and I just haven't happened upon it in any of the other cities I've been to?) It also made me giggle when my husband and I ordered sandwiches at some BBQ place, and there was a flyer for the "World's Largest Gun Show" attached to the receipt. It's a VERY different atmosphere than Ottawa. I assume I'll have a hard time adjusting... "why do you all... I'm sorry... "y'all" like guns so much?" "Why don't people wear helmets while riding motorcycles?" "Why do they feel the need to have a billboard for 'Tulsa's #1 Rated Heart Surgery?' How does that even make sense?" "Why did I just get yelled at for accidentally giving the lady a Canadian quarter while purchasing this beverage?" And most importantly... "WHERE THE HELL ARE THE SIDEWALKS?!?"

I hear you on the bail bond shops, the gun and pawn shops :o , people who don't wear helmets, and the medical billboards. We're not in Canada anymore, Toto.

Oh. And the bail bond side of town is where the courthouse and/or local lockup is.

How handy is that! :hehe:

 I asked that Q too. Why is it mandatory to wear seatbelts, but not helmets? Isn't it the same thing, protecting yourself in a motor vehicle?

Heheh I figured that, although I haven't seen the actual courthouse. I did, however, notice about 15 law firms around the corner from the bail bond area... I mean, yeah it makes sense, but I still find it hilarious. It's almost like one-stop shopping for criminals!

Hehe YES! Part of me thinks I ought to stop looking for logic in these things, or at least my version of logic, but it's not easy.

And I HATE the lack of sidewalks! Especially on main streets. My street in Ottawa doesn't have sidewalks, but I assume that is because it's about 2 streets off of a main street and the speed limit is 40km/h. Plus, my street is tiny, but has wide lanes. When I walk in Tulsa, I feel bad walking on people's lawns, but I'll be damned if I'm walking on the street! The lanes are very narrow, and I'm pretty sure I'd disrupt the motorists if I were to walk on the street. But still! I've always been taught that it's impolite to walk on someone's lawn!

Aaaaahhhh... I'll adjust! :)
