hi everyone just curious.....i just checked my account online and my check has been cashed but

i've not received an noa of any kind. I have noticed most people receive an noa or an noa1 within just a few days.

Am I just to anxious? I don't have a receipt number so how do I track my petition?

Also is it good that they cashed my check so soon?

7-19-07 we met online

5-29-09 NOA1 mailed to me

6-2-09 checked cashed

6-6-09 received NOA1

9-24-09 received RFE

9-24-09 returned RFE with correct info

9-25-09 they received RFE back

9-29-09 they resumed case processing

Ok so that this is updated there was a change and we decided to go ahead and

get married in Egypt and not do the Fiance visa. We got married Dec 5th, 2010.

We filed I-130 in early March 2011 and our interview is Jan 12th, 2012.

The actual timeline has all other information if you wish to see it.

They have up to 30 days to send the NOA1 but it should not take that long...

Other people with the Vermont Service Center were having trouble checking the status of their petition on-line but you can try...

On the back of the check is a WAC or EAC number that is your receipt number...

you can go to http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis and try entering the number to see the status of your case

Good Luck! (F)

The NOA1 is a rather useless piece of paper which tells you what you already know...they have your petition. If your bank shows images of the back of the check your receipt number is there (begins with EAC or WAC) and you can go to play with the almost equally useless online update system which may or may not ever be updated. Ours wasn't. NOA1s have been taking 30 days to receive in many cases.

Looking at timelines is deceiving. The NOA1 date is the date the petition was received and logged in, even if you do not get the letter for a month. People get the letter and backfill the NOA1 date making it appear they got the "letter" in a few days. They did not. If you get the receipt number off the back of the check and use the day they cashed it as the NOA1 date, you will be very close...close enough for government work.

The noa 1 is useless - however, safeguard the NOA 2 - you will use it again down the road... :reading:
