Hiya fellow UK K1 Visa filers-

For those who phoned the DOS and got the interview date- how long after you sent in packet 3/checklist before they were able to give you the intreview date?

My finace sent the checklist May 18th (he sent the rest of packet 3 back in early April), and I have phoned the DOS every other day starting last week praying for good news.

Also- had anyone had an issue with a woman at the DOS that doesn't even look up the case. There were a couple of times that I gave the case number and the DOS lady said right away there was there are no updates and she hangs up. Doesn't seem like she had time to look at the case. But I usually phone back and ask again and get someone else who takes the time to look at my case and tells me its still pending and no interview date yet.

Seem like the same chick everytime.

Thanks for any inputs!

I've gotten that woman at DOS! I think I must have talked to her a dozen times at least. At first, I don't think I noticed. But she's terrible! So it's not just me she would do that to....

Our interview date took forever and Jon and I were so eager we had one of my Senator's staffers send them an email asking what was up. He sent the email at 7 weeks of waiting and we had our interview date the next day.

Best of luck!

It can take London Embassy 3weeks to input the details on their system. Have you asked if everything is showing on the system as complete and just awaiting an interview date?

I think from our pkt3 being received and entered onto the system and an interview date was about 5weeks

Girl, after nearly a month of waiting and phoning, I wrote a letter and asked for an interview date. Maybe try that (include his case no.). Good luck, I know how you feel.

We were assigned an interview date within 14 days (2 weeks) from sending in our packet 3 response (in which we wrote wedding and travel dates and we sent the packet 3 special next day delivery). We received packet 4 within 15 days from sending in our packet 3 response (1 day after we were told that we were assigned in interview date).

Visa Journey completed, but we are still here to provide support! :)

When people say that they called DOS about an interview date, do they mean that they called the same NVC number? I called them yesterday to inquire about whether or not our documents had been entered into the system and whether or not we'd been assigned an interview date, and the operator told me that they can't see that information and all they could tell me was what day the embassy had received our petition.

I know we are on the short side of getting impatient, but I've come to London to wait with John until the interview, and we'd both like to get back to the US as soon as we can so we can get this wedding rolling! Not to mention that we'd like to do a few little short tourist-y trips in Europe during the wait, but we can't plan anything because we don't want to leave the UK until we know for sure what the interview date is. It's infuriating!

No, its not the NVC. The DOS number is 202-663-1225

Thanks Laura! That de-mystifies the process a bit! :)

No problem! Hopefully they will be able to tell you more information. I never tried called NVC after they said my petition had left. I just waited until after we sent back Packet 3, and called DOS. They will probably be able to atleast tell you if they recieved it or not. But depending on the travel/wedding date that you put down, that could affect the interview date you get.

I'm in the same boat here and have a similar question. We sent packet 3 back to the embassy on May 26th, and included a cover letter requesting an interview within a specific 2 week window, beginning June 29th. Today I called DOS, and they said that packet 3 had been received by the embassy (today), but no interview date has been assigned. Is it normal for there to be a delay in receiving packet 3 and assigning an interview date? Does anyone know how long I can expect to wait? Thanks much.

I had at least a few days from them getting my Packet to issuing a date, and mine was fast, or so I've been told...

Hi Camie- its way early for me to try this yet but out of curiosity- but could you tell me how you worded the letter?

It can take up to 2 weeks after they physically receive packet 3 from the postman to when they enter it onto the system which is when DoS sees it as having arrived. From then the average seems to be about 2 weeks for them to issue an interview date )some people inn a few days some people up to 4 weeks). Depending on what you put for dates for traveling to the US there can be anything from a weeks notice of the interview to 6 weeks or so.

Bear in mind that once you have the interview date if it is going to be too late for your plans you can e-mail and ask for a cancellation, though you may get very short notice for this.

I called DOS yesterday and they gave me our interview date (June 23)! We sent back our Packet 3 on May 18, and we specified that our travel date was July 15 and our wedding date was August 14. We are elated.
