If you're asking with respect to a K3 visa application you're writing about the wrong affidavit of support.

If you're asking with respect to an immigrant visa application or adjustment of status you've posted in the wrong forum.

Hi: I have this same question about whether it is necessary to notarize the I-864. The form I was sent in the mail was a 2001 version that requires notarization and 3 years of tax returns. However, the on-line updated version does not indicate a need for notarization and only asks for 1 year of tax returns. How do I know which is the right one to use?

The new set of I864s do not require notarization... Use what's on the USCIS site and you have the most recent one.

Also, you are only required to submit one year of taxes, but optionally can submit three years if this helps your case.
