I don't put much stock in it personally - but its not like he made an explicit claim that the US is the top 10 or top 20.

He exaggerated. He's not the first politician to do that. Fairly shrewd guess that he won't be the last either.

Really it doesn't matter a whole lot at the end of the day - pandering, grandstanding are common currency in politics. And this is the least outrageous example of it imaginable.

i don't know why, but all this makes me think about is when that German newspaper reported that President Bush didn't know there were black people in Brazil. (i can't find the article.)

i guess my point being... sometimes (maybe a lot of times? ) presidents don't know what the heck they are talking about in terms of world demographics.

He makes the point about islam as opposed to the size of our jewish population because of the 8 years of accusations of u.s. foreign policy being anti-arab and anti-islam.

How would you go about stopping Iran from obtaining nuclear technology? I mean without being a hypocritical warmonger that is.

Those charges back way beyond Bush and you're assuming most Arabs or Muslims are too dumb not to know Obama's statement is factually wrong.

How about those UN/IAEA inspectors for starters? They worked so well in Iraq.
