Yes, all the time on the mainland.

Look are "Blue slips here" http://candleforlove.com/forums/index.php?showforum=35

They may be asking for affidavits of persons knowing your marriage, or perhaps a letter of evolution of relationship.

If interviewing for AOS in the USA, they may be asking for same.

Wait, how else were you planning on proving that you were married? With fake marriage documents?

That's what the interview is for...to prove that you're eligible for what you petitioned...a greencard based on marriage to a US citizen.

May be he was there with insufficient documents that he meant to taken with him...But If he could list the docs he had with him, He would have more answers on what he's looking for.

I brought gas bill, joint bank statement, auto insurance, life insurance, joint tax return.

For some people, this would probably have been sufficient. Do you think the IO had reason to think your marriage was not real?

Anyway, maybe some things that are more "personal" to your relationship would help. We brought many photos of us to our interview, and the IO remarked on how happy we looked. He went through all of them, and they seemed to make an impression. We also had affidavits from 3 friends attesting to the validity of our marriage. I've heard some say that these make no difference-but our IO actually asked us about them, and they were one of the few things he made a point to ask about.

We also brought pages of emails that we had written to each other before we met, and quite a few pieces of mail that were addressed to us at the same place. Some were to us individually, some together. None of these were ever looked at-but you have to think of things that make your marriage unique and personal to you, and show that your marriage is true.
