Being the "Air Crash Investigation" geek that I am, I'm telling you right now that the cause of this crash was faulty air speed indications due to blocked peto tubes. I'm guessing that the overspeed warning sounded in the cockpit, thus prompting the pilots to throttle back, when in fact the plane was not going too fast at all. This resulted in a fatal stall, and the plane nosedived into the sea.

I'd put everything I own on it. Seriously.

Yep, strongest theory as of now is the peto tubes were giving innacurate speed info and since they were flying through a storm accurate speed was very important to avoid stalling or going too fast and causing a break.

Such is the case that Airbus has already released a document informing all airlines that they peto tubes must be changed on all A330 models, and that this had been spotted before as a problem it had.

Anyway, 17 bodies recovered so far.
