Hello all,

My question is fairly simple. My husband has been accepted to Medical school, and we are moving from VA to MI at the end of June. Our lease is up on our current apartment, so staying any longer here isn't an option. However, we just recently filed for AOS (from F-1) and received our NOAs yesterday. Does anyone have experience with changing addresses during the paperwork process? Does anyone have any advice for us?

A second question: How can I/can I access my case online? It seems to me from reading the forums and time lines that many people have been able to monitor the progress on line. How does this work?

Thank you so much!

:)

DANGEROUS!

See:

I can't believe this .. today Lin gets a letter in the mail which was forwarded from our old address. It is a denial Decision for his permanent residence application because he did not go to his interview in CA.

Order of events:

10/24 move

10/25 notice of interview for12/11

10/31 confirmation of change of address from USCIS

11/1 Notice of cancellation of interview

12/12 Decision on application for status as permanent resident - denied for failure to appear at interview on 12/11

Text says " If you fail to depart from the United States proceedings will be instituted to enforce your departure. You may renew your application for status as a permanent resident during such proceedings" .......

In order for him not to be sent back to China I have to file an appeal and pay another $385.00. How @#@#@@# annoying !!!!!!!!

Anyone have to deal with this ####### before? Should I expect this to happen again when we move next month? I am soooooooooo mad right now

We (and I suspect many others) changed our address during the AOS process and didn't have an issue. You'll need to complete an AR-11 which you can do on line at the USCIS web site. They will mail you a confirmation to the new address (took a couple of weeks for ours to come). The key is timing - much of the AOS process is waiting which is good - but you don't want to miss something coming in the mail.

Since you just got your NOA1 you may be fine changing your address now so you don't miss anything like Biometrics appointment letters or RFE (if that were to happen). Since you don't have a choice in moving - this is what you'll have to do. You could also call USCIS a short time after you do the AR-11 just to confirm. The mail from USCIS is usually not forwarded by USPS so keep that in mind.
