Nat, according to IOG's list you are number 12 in line for a K1 visa, I see that VT on an average has been approving 5 K1's. So, it liooks as if your approval will be received sometimes within the next 2 to 3 weeks. The question is are you'll ready, because with a K1, the process moves very quickly after it is at the embassy.

If I were you, I would be setting up to put everthing in place to get the police cert, completion of the Ds-230 with his signature on it, passport photo's for the medical, preparing for the medical. etc. letter from employer, tax information..etc

Hello everyone!!

Long time nuh see!!

Congrats to all with good news and to all whose SO have arrive and are enjoying them. Anyone with bad news or breakups--this too shall pass. This is only a stepping stone to higher grounds. These difficluties are preparing you for the real test. The true test of your life. So don't despair--he never gives us more than we can handle and he will bring us through. Best of luck to all!!

In response to the DNA question--no the father does not have to go to Jamaica. The test can be done in two parts. His part is done here and sent to a US Embassy designated lab and the child has to go there and get his/her testing done. The results are then sent to the embassy sealed and you are also sent a copy for your records. Cost approximately $500-600. You can contact the DNA testing center. The same one Maury uses on his show...lol

Or you can google DNA testing for immigration purposes and you will get detailed instructions on how this is done. Good luck

Thanks for the encouragement, Roxie.

As far as being ready, not only do we have all the paperwork filled out for the interview, I've already filled out as much of the AOS paperwork as possible!

And I had him get a letter from his employer AND high school certificate, just in case those are needed once he gets here. He does need to get the rest of the passport pics, though... I think 10 more (4 for medical, 6 for interview), but that might be too many.

hello everyone. Congrats to all new approvals and NOA's. Best of luck to all.

Just checking in!

Question: Is there a website with information on how to order any JA food items in this country? Someone on here mentioned that you could order some ackee (sp), etc.

http://sams247.com/

((((((((chups))))))))) and thanks JahLove! I was drooling just seeing all those food items.:dance:

happy friday yardies!

has anyone filed a I-130 for a stepchild?

I'm planning on doing this...but...not anytime soon.

KK, what are your reasons for waiting? and for anyone else with stepchildren in jamaica, what are your reasons for waiting? i suppose everyone has their own personal circumstances...just curious to see everyone's feelings on the subject. for me, i wanted to make sure my husband got situated here which he has done and we we were able to buy a house to accomodate another child which we have also done...not to mention the expense of it all.

Hey Mich..where the heck have u been

KK ..poor yuh...LOL..the passes allows us to go to the beaches and pools here..

Finesse not sure of ur question exactly...but can ur hubby be in JA for testing 600 is a plane ticket...sometimes the DNA test gets done if the fathers particulars are added sometime after the child is born...

for 401ks I thought once ur married for ur spouse not to be the beneficiary he/she would have to sign a waiver and given to ur employer?

prenup ting...hmmmm--my take

true, but unless we were going to jamaica for some other reason or timed it to go there for vacation to coincide with the dna test, i'm sure the dna cost in jamaica is not cheap either

yankeesgirl79, just go to the forum where you want to post your topic & click the "New Topic" button at the top right. Because you have Jamaica listed as your country, it will automatically show up on the Jamaica Portal.

Ummm waiting on husband to finish school, get drivers license, and get a job. There is really big rush on our end.

My husband has a great relationship with his daughter (with a little bit of my push). She is 9 and we have been together since she was 2. I have a good relationship with her as well...but then again..i haven't lived with her..lol.

Ideally, we would want her to spend summer here...but unless she gets a visitors visa...we only have the other option.

hey love hows hubby?
