thanks roxie. that post wasn't much help. my questions have to do with the embassy part of it so I need someone from jamaica who has done it. from the research that I have done every country's requirements at the embassy stage are slightly different when it comes to the paperwork needed to show legal custody of the child....some need an actual court order and others will accept a notarized letter from the bio parent giving permission for the child to leave the country. i'll PM Jengles. I suppose I could call the embassy directly and ask....anyone know the number I could call to get such info?

also, the dna test part. some cases get through without a dna test being required. not sure how they determine which cases require a dna test and which don't. if a dna test is required in our case (which I am anticipating it will be), does my husband have to go to jamaica to do it? i see all these ads for immigration dna testing where it is possible for my husband to go to a lab here and his daughter go to a lab in jamaica and they mail the info between the two....but at a cost of around $600+ after shipping and lab fees. just want to be prepared for this monster we call immmigration! i have a headache already...

KK ..poor yuh...LOL..the passes allows us to go to the beaches and pools here..

Finesse not sure of ur question exactly...but can ur hubby be in JA for testing 600 is a plane ticket...sometimes the DNA test gets done if the fathers particulars are added sometime after the child is born...

for 401ks I thought once ur married for ur spouse not to be the beneficiary he/she would have to sign a waiver and given to ur employer?

prenup ting...hmmmm--my take

Kimmy, there is some truth in some of what you have stated but not all. I can leave any portion of my 401 that was aquired prior to be married to whom ever I wish. I can designate with an agreement in writting, that all monies aquired pior to being married will not be used as part of an divorce/death dispereement.

is that NY thing about the beaches? I wonder if I'm suppose to do that here in Maryland.

KK, in Maryland they use your car registration as proof of residency when you are trying to get into the parks and beaches that requires money for entrance.

I never knew that in some states/cities, the parks and beaches aren't free & open. Funny how there are these types of differences. Some places, zoos are free & parks aren't. Others, vice versa.

Like, at my university, students had to pay a HUGE amount of money for football games, whereas other schools gave students free tickets.

Please excuse my off-topic rambling. :star:

roxie...do you know of any nice parks beaches in maryland?

Yes, I will put this disclaimer out.... There are no beaches i Maryland that can compare to any beaches in the Caribbean or in Florida.

Now, I would say that Point Look-out is a very nice beach in Maryland. It's about a 2 hrs drive from you...straight down Rt5 going south. You can go to Ocean City or Rehoboth beach, they are nice too. But since I live alittle more south than you, for day trips IO tend to go to Point Look Out.

Nat, alot of this depends on the states budget.
