Thanks for all the well wishes tomorrow...A thanks you guys as well. We spent a little time going over possible questions...but I couldn't trip him up on anything...I said "When did I give you so much information on me?" He laughed and said "When you love someone you just pay attention to what matters to them."....Awwwwwwww...he sounds very calm and relaxed. I wish I could be there with him...but I know he will do just fine.

I don't really see the question as being rude. it's something that is polite to ask if you're talking about someone's SO. I ask it all the time, just like I'd ask how kids they have and what ages. Also ask it just in case the husband does something that I need at a later date, ie mechanic, lawyer etc...Then, when I see the person in a few months, years or whatever, I ask them how the kids are doing, ie 'how's your youngest enjoying starting kindergarten'...and say the husband worked for Jiffy Lube, something like 'I took the car into Jiffy Lube the other day, remembered your husband works for them, which one is he at?' etc...For me, it is an effective networking tool, something polite to ask.

I think perhaps the reason why some are thinking it's rude is that you are not happy with what he does?? In which case I guess you could be vague 'he works in banking/transport/hospitality/retail' etc and keep it moving. For me it's a sign of interest, not being nosy. In a corporate environment, it could be considered rude NOT to ask!

English, you are right, and I know this is the reason I find it rude and I don't want to talk about it is because I am not comfortable discussing it, my ex that is an attorney I had no problem telling ppl he was a lawyer!!! So with my hubby I just say he is in school and trying to find a part-time jobs that fits into his schedule and try to leave it at that... But for some ppl thats not good enough, they want to know what school he goes to what is he majoring... blah blah blah...

there's not really anything wrong with asking what he does

but when they are going to want to get into specifics that's a little too much

i try to not pry too much into ppl's personal lives when i'm not very close to them

whatever they put out there i tend to just take it at face value

i may ask a couple general questions for the sake of making convo but outside of that i tend to not go too far esp when what i ask is met with vague responses

that right away gives me the red flag that i shouldn't proceed further but some ppl can't take a hint

Well I haven't told the boys yet or my parents LOL we plan on making the announcement this weekend to my family and his as well. We are so praying for a girl, he doesn't haven any children so this will be his 1st hence the excitement LOL
