I need a pick me up

My co-worker passed last night after a 6 month fight with cancer...why don't people go to the doctor when they don't feel well. She was always complaining she's tired, can't eat, no engry and I kept telling her to go to the doctor. In December she told me she lost 10bs in 2 weeks I told her that's not good, especially if you're on any diet or exercise program, something is very wrong. She went to the doctor that afternoon and she was admitted the next morning...aggressive lukemia

please ladies, if you're not feeling well, please check it out with your doctor. I did her nails and toes on Sunday and cleaned her house and she was joking around as usual calling me her Jamaican connection...

So sorry for your loss, Lawny - Cancer sucks, plane and simple. I honestly don't know if it's worse when you know and try to fight it, or when you live your life and it's quick - I have had friends / family go through it both ways.

I was reading from work and someone asked me if my fiance helps me around the house, am sorry I forgot who it was. The answer is yes, he does help me with cooking, dishes, and what he can but I am so ####### about washing clothes and some cleaning that I insist on doing that myself. I guess I do it to myself

I already forsee that being an issue when Steven gets here. I am not the one who wakes up on Saturday morning and cleans up from top to bottom. But I have a feeling Steven will not appreciate my desire to live rather than clean... I know my mother didn't when I was growing up.

I agree with you Nat. I'm not big on cleaning at all. The funny thing about me is that when I do clean I am a serious cleaner like I leave nothing untouched I do not straighten up I clean it until it shines but its the getting me to that point that is the problem. See it takes me a whileeeeee before I get there. You’ll come over and my place will be spotless but had you seen it a few hours before you came well you wouldn’t have the same opinion. And actually I hope you called before you came or else your in for the surprise I was trying to hide from you...lol

Lawny that’s horrible news. Did she know that it was aggressive? That’s one of the symptoms of that particular cancer a fullness feeling so you don’t want to eat, her doctors should have explained the symptoms to her, but then if she didn’t go…man. It almost seems as if it was preventable (well maybe delayable) with proper awareness. My daughter’s aunt passed away after battling breast cancer but it wasn’t really from the cancer, she had completed her chemo and was believed to be in remission. However, she wasn’t eating and so her blood sugar levels dropped so low she slipped into a coma and then everything started failing. I almost feel like hers could have been prevented/delayed too with proper awareness and nutrition. But I’m not a doctor, so I don’t know. It’s just really sad.

Funny my mom just came from GA and she is in Montgomery (sp) AL right now. She’s on some type of history bus tour or something like that but she says its so interesting and she is learning so much. She won the trip and she was dragging her feet about going but now she is so glad she went. I am too she needed a break.

They told her it was agressive the day she was admitted in the hospital. To tell you the truth, she didn't want anymore meds and I don't blame her, I worked 6 years on the oncology ward and I had to learn to harden my heart especially when it came to pediatric oncology. Whenever I would go to Jamaica I would bring back sand in little bottles for the patients (adults and kids)...she looked fine on Sunday, very happy even cussed me out (like she always does)

I have tried Amerula - But I actually have a store near me that will get me rum cream if I ask them to order it - or I can usually find one that is made in Barbados, can't think of the name at the moment.

You have your rum cream supplier on speed dial? I think there is a 12 step program for that.

on the subject of people not going to the doctor my parents are like that my mom says she would rather not know ...

and i am firm believer that you should go to the doctor so this is something i battle my parents on. My dad thankfully has been going since he got real sick in november now im working on my mom .

Awww how sad... So sorry for your lost. Sometimes we spend so many hours at work when you think about it we are with them more than our actual family so some co workers we seem to grow a bond with. You ever notice how you feel different when a certain person isn’t at work especially if they were your lunch or walking buddy etc... You and her family are in my prayers. I pray Jah wraps his arms around you and help lift your heavy heart but just think before she went you helped put a smile on her face this past Sunday.

My friends back home have lost so many of their parents because they don't want to go back to the doctor once they're diagnosed with something. In 2002, four of my friends lost their dads to prostate cancer, something is is preventable and treatable if caught in time. Once of my friend's father is fair skinned and when he came to pick me up at the airport I walked by him because I didn't regonized him. He had gotten so dark because the cancer was spreading through his body. By the time he agreed to treatment it was too late...cho man
