Ladies;

I have a question, do you think relationship/adjusment is easier if you and your husband/fiance/wife/fiancee were from the same country/culture -- had a dicussion the other night with some friends from a yahoo group -- it got so heated, that I didn't even finish my food.

i know ya'll are light years ahead of this topic, but i was soooo shocked when i found out one of the yardies whose man "duped" her was from jamaica herself.. i guess i knew it could happen to anyone, but i just was surprised... seemed that a man would think it harder to try and fool someone for his own culture??

nope...he doesn't care..if this chic been here for a while..she lost touch with the goings on in JA and can easily be lead..

(so wait, how yuh know a who and i don't..Q we need fi talk)

i think its newly that said culture does matter A$$ is an A$$..nope..nope its not

physically they are..but what about the values that one has brought up with..most are not the same..don't think that statement is inaccurate

This is what I say. I know relationships where same country, same race, same city but somehow differences in upbringing and values were not easy to overcome at all.

Yes i do to the tenth power!!!! the both of you can relate to certain things, i was talking to this lady I met in the airport going to JA she was 40 and going to see a 17yr old boy who she wants to have sex with but don't (clears throat) and sends him money every week for school(this been going on for 2yrs) anyways back to question i told her i was going to JA to see my man and we was talking about the culture difference and she was like at least ur blk im a white women going to see a Jamaican boy I'm like yeah but there still is a difference...

I know there are certain things that i will relate to that J won't have a clue about and vice versa I'm not going to front i am confident and know that j would have tried to get with me if I was American or Jamaican! but sometimes I think like humm I don't know about soccer or about making festival amongst other ish I wonder he would prefer someone that do??? actually I said this to him and he got pissed off! But it is what it is like when I told him lets go to KFC on a Sunday he look at me like I was a damn alien…

Girl, you can't tell a Jamaican to eat takeout on a SUNDAY...dwl, dat a big dinnah day/ rice-n-peas and whatevah meat you want, most likely oxtail

sad, but common about the 40 year old woman, do I fell sorry for her HELLS NO...I have cousins that work at resorts and the offers that were made to them for daggering -- some women so bold as to leave their hotel key wrapped in a $20/bill now tell me if that's not prostution...

gurl that boy went on and on how everyone in Jamaica is eating rice and peas with chicken and i can have KFC another time blah blah blah see that is nothing to me in NYC if i want mickey dees on a Sunday i just walk up the block lmao he asked me what was my favorite food and i said hamburgers he was like that's not food although i don’t eat red meat anymore hamburgers use to be my fave I got the pics to prove it!!!!

I don’t feel sorry for her either she was very nice and really believed the boy was using the money for school but i knew she was having sex with him cause I caught her in like two different lies to each their own, I notice allot of ppl blame the JA men but I often wonder if I was really poor and I had sum old rich man wanting to help me and will take care of me what will I do????

I also told my JA girl friend about diff ish and she was the women started that ish coming to JA offering men money for sex all i could say is WOWWWWWWW

Dang. It took me so long to catch up that I missed Ells' resurrection!

Now Roc got my eye because he wasn’t hooting ad hollering he was real laid back just peeping the scene. Umpgh I should have ignored his rass to but such its life.

DaDa, that's true about Steven as well. He was not all aggressive like a lot of the guys there. He just came up & talked to me a few times my first trip. He claims he was trying to talk to me more, but I'd be too busy on my computer to even look at him.

Who know wah di term MAMPIE mean?

I've heard it before, but forgot the context. Care to share?

As far as some people not posting their issues online, that could be because this is a 100% public forum, visible to any and everybody. I notice some of you use random names & not your real picture. That's probably safer. Not that I'm encouraging you to, but if someone were to google my name on here, they'd find out a ton of info about me.... but none of it will be super-personal business.

Trelawny, I also sent those two stories JaEnglish posted to someone else.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip
