I live in Los Angeles- if we apply for our marriage license at the County Clerk's Office, how long would it take for us to receive our official marriage certificate ?

People had told me that, its much easier to get married Vegas ? And marriage certificate is generated automatically?

Any suggestions? Real life experience?

You are correct, a marriage cert can take quite a long time to get in southern Cal.

Many simply take a drive north on I-15 and marry in Vegas.

Procedure in Vegas is simple.

1. Visit Clark County Clerks office in Vegas and get a license.
2. Get married.
3. Carry the executed license back to clerks office.
4. Walk out with marriage cert.

Note Step #3 You carry the license back to the clerks office.

I will be depending on LA local country rule.

Some place can issue marriage certificate same day, or take up to 10 days.

Usually you should get marriage license first, then have marriage ceremony.

After marriage ceremony, you can get witness' and pastor's signature, then bring it to County Clerk's office or family court's office to get marriage certificate.

If you don't have time/money for marriage ceremony, you can ask for civil ceremony performance done by court judge with one or two witness.

Sometimes local law have mandatory period between marriage license and marriage certificate.

Your County Clerk office or Family Court office should have information for that.

It is local rule, so your best resource will be your local County Clerk or Family Court.

It can be done by yourself easily.

Probably it will be better to do it from your local County Clerk office.

It will save the money/time for travel.

Also, you may need to get the certified copy of marriage certificate later.

So in my opinion, it's best to get it done from your home town.

the one on la cienga? is it? you know the big building by the freeway and its on the 6th floor . took us about half hour to line up and hand over the application. take $ not cards and its $70 for marriage licwence. then they tell you how long before you come back to get the licence (for us it was an hour but the website warns that it varies from an hour to 1 day)

we didnt get married at the clerks office so we didnt book an appointment just went and got our licence. its valid for 90 days. got married on the 9th of april waited for the check to cash and the proper certificate to come it didnt. so after 4 weeks we phoned. they said we could come in and get our certified copies then as it was registered but the proper certificate and copies we ordered will take 8 to 10 weeks. we are still waitng for those. but went up to norwalk about three weeks ago and ordered two certified copies for aos. that took as long as it does to line up (about 30 or 40 mins plus time for guy to use a printer.

We are definitely not having a formal wedding ceremony until he receives his AP, we plan to have a large wedding with our families & friends in Seoul. Estimate is March, 2010.

So, we are just trying to finish up the neccessary paperworks here ---

I still think VEGAS is a ONE DEAL STOP!!!

i am not sure about how to go about it if you get married at the office. but if you google marriage licences in los angeles websites explaining things come up
