K-1 Visa and Social Security Card:

http://www.ssa.gov/ssnvisa/whatyou_need.htm

According to this - if you answer the DS-230 properly, your SS comes within 3 weeks.. nothing to do..

John loves the USA!! weeeeee hugs to ALL!!

Hi June Filers! I sure hope everyone is getting all their results and final stages of their Visa's. Quick update on John and I. (Aya your nearly there! Woo hoo) Congrads Scott as well! All others Congrads on getting this far!

On November 25th John was approved, pending his original BC and PC.. he sent those to the Embassy courier 2 days later. On Friday 12-4, John received the visa and mysterious brown packet. He booked his Flight and is due to Arrive Tuesday 12-15-09. POE is Newark NJ and he has a 2.5 hour layover to allow for customs and whatnot. After his arrival (1 week later) we will do the Social Security card, finalize the wedding plans and around 1-5-10 go get the marriage license. We are getting married on 1-23-2010.

After Married that following Monday, I am assured the officient will mail off any requiered forms to prepare for his AOS and EAD.

All my support and appreciation goes to each and everyone of you who have assisted both of us to make this possible. Your unrelenting pursuit for love and freedom are what makes this Country so wonderful. As each and every one of our loved ones become US Citizens, let me say Thank You personally and welcome you with open arms.

God Bless and God Speed on your lives together.

Forever,

Wendy_n_John

Wendy,

You can apply for a social security card before you get married??? Would love to know the details of that.

Mark's interview is in 2 weeks from tomorrow in London. He is getting really nervous! Hope all goes well and we too will get approved. I am planning to fly over and get him on Jan 13 and we are flying back here on Jan 19th. This leg of the journey is almost over!!

We finally got our date.. Jan 26... at least it is 2010 and not 2011... they have truly made every effort to delay it at every stage it seems.... if there are no more delays, she should be here two months from now...

Congratulations on the interview date Scott!!

How did your Dam Hoi go?

We had a great time... her uncles demanded I do shots with them... 30+ ... needless to say I was trashed as were 4 of her uncles and she never drinks and she did 4 shots at the end of the party to get them to ease up on me... We got alot of great photos... I miss being able to eat "fresh" food.... we ate so much while I was there... The coming back here without her doesn't get easier, but at least it was the last time I will have to do it...

I'm glad you two had a great time :star: hopefully the time will fly by fast till you are together again!!

She wants to fly here the day she gets the visa... I am looking at things much the way Chris is... I think she will have many loose ends she is not aware of that need to be addressed before she leaves...

It's the opposite for us here lol.. John and I already agreed that he comes to Egypt after my interview to see my family and fly back to the States together.. Now I still have to give a short notice before leaving my job, and I was hoping to spend a month or two just with my family and friends before I have to leave.. He wants us already in the US before Valentine's Day.. I think that's soon to give a short notice (which is a month at my workplace) and spend time with my family.. He thinks I'm trying to make us wait longer..lol God knows when I'm going to see my family again and I just want to make use of every single day left...

Not true.. thats only for IR/CR 1 visas... K visas must apply for the card.. its not automatic...

I agree. I had to apply for my SSN. I got the number the next day but I got the card 2 weeks after. I was lucky that the SS personnel knows that K-1 visa holders are entitled of SSN. Some don't. Anyways, just bring a copy of the memorandum saying that K-1 visa holders can be given SSN, just in case you get to the personnel who doesn't know the rule.

Goodluck everyone.

Has anyone else of you guys heard about raising the visa fees in Feb 2010? Are they going to raise the AOS fees as well?

I did read something that there was a bill they were trying to pass to raise the fees, It was on the Manila Embassy website. But, I didnt read much about it.

Guys, our interview is in a few hours... I am stuck at work all night in the middle of a snow storm while he will be interviewed. My mind is going crazy just going over in my head if we have everything or not. But, this is the moment we've been waiting for. Wish us luck! THanks for everything... I really am so grateful.

Megan xoxo

They have not decided, but will likely pass the increases next year.. they are in the stage where they are asking for comment and then after Feb they will go over the input from anyone who speaks out and then make the decisions... from a reliable source, we should expect to see all fees increase next year.. There is a topic here on VJ in this specific subject

Hey everyone!

Joseph passed his interview! He didnt tell me much about it, he said it was fairly easy and they asked him alot of questions but he wasnt nervous at all and he did a great job! :) Im expecting with the holidays it will take longer than the week they said for him to get his visa.. Should I wait until he HAS the visa to book a ticket, i wasnt going to do it till the middle of January anyway.. probably the third week or so. Im so excited and thank you everyone! On to AOS shortly. He will have to complete the CFO seminar before he leaves.. so thats the last and final step. Good Luck to everyone still waiting.

Thanks again!
