yeah, its usally only a few days or so looking to the time lines :)

I'm not sweating it as long as the file gets to the consulate by next Thursday... We are waiting to be able to send an email on Thursday as that will likely get us an appointment on Dec 2 or 3 which is perfect for us as I will already be there...

I will call them back tonight and will likely hear its out of AP and on the way to VN..

Scott,

How many days do you have to wait to ask if its in additional processing. Our case arrived only yesterday so probably wait a few more days before i call back right?

Hell no girl! Call em back every afternoon until its gone....DHL picks up around 4 ish... so todays stuff left already... Call later today and then again on Monday afternoon.. Doesnt hurt to call and ask... they dont care as they are paid to answer the phone and its just another call to them... AP just means its there... They say AP until its gone... They have 3 answers...

1. file not recieved yet,

2. In AP and

3. file has been shipped to consulate...

so you will hear AP until its gone..

one left for Manila today 3:52

Hey have a question. I was looking on the embassy page for Moscow for addtional documents to bring and it says "- DHL receipt to confirm you paid for visa delivery. The fee can be paid at one of the DHL offices. "

What does this mean? Is this consulate specific to Moscow????

Scott, Should they already be filling out the paperwork, or just wait until the e mail comes? On the guides it says you can practice with these forms?

Go to the PI area of VJ and get a copy of the current pkt 3 & 4... ask others there what forms PI specifically requires... start working on them now! He should have everything filled out except the case # ASAP. You have your tax transcripts and w-2's and birth cert orig and copy... letter from employer... print any logs that you can and start printing chats and emails now...

setup a clear outline based on what they say for your consulate... they are very specific about what they want and the order they want it....

I bought a two hole punch and the clips that are used for that ACCO clips.. I have an outline of the contents for the general docs as well as two additional packets one before the engagement and one after... they each have an outline cover sheet and tabbed numbered pages inside that correspond to each item in the outline.

Get everything as organized as you can and get it in chronological order.

OK GUYS FINALLY! TODAY GOT THE NOA2! Now we will have to guide eachother through the next steps...I am going to see him on Monday so I want to have everything ready to give him... I have the NOA1, copy of the I 129-f, pictures, proof of relationship, and all supporting docs and the I-134. What else do I have to bring him? And, what should he be doing now? I have to call the NVC two days from today, right? Oh lord, this is really happening im so excited! Hopefully we all can help eachtoher through this.

THanks for the support!

Megan

DS 230? there is a guide for the PI embassy somewhere.. I have seen it in the past

K visas in Manila are processed by the IMMIGRANT section even though the K visas are legally NON-IMMIGRANT visas. DS 230 is actually to apply for the IR visas aka greencard. You dont need to file the DS230. You only file the DS 156, DS 156K and DS157. You file them when you go to the embassy on your interview day EXCEPT for the DS 156. You must fill out the DS 156 online, submit it, then print out the form after you SUBMIT it. The 1 you will print has a barcode now. You pay your file fee at 1 of the banks listed on the US Embassy website. These change a lot sometimes. Right now they are using BDO. So check on the website a day or so before you go pay your fee. After you pay the bank your fee, they will stamp your DS 157 form as paid. If you forget to bring the DS 157 with you, they have them at the bank already. The stamped paid DS 157 is good for 1 year. So if you do it even today you should be ok. You also need to bring the I 134 affidavit of support. The I 834 is used for the greencard . The I834 is actually used then because its legally binding contract between the petitioner and the US Government, has to be notorized. Since technically the K visa is non-immigrant, they cant legally require a petitioner to support the benificiary if for example she runs away after she gets here before she marries you hehehehe. They can if your married, thats why the different forms for affidavit of support. Its confusing. So you need the I 134 and copy of most rescent tax return. In our case we should get interview before end of the year so you need 2008 tax return. You dont need transcript. thats only if you dont have a copy of your actual return. Then you can go on irs.gov and order it . Bring last 3 years if you have it, 2006, 2007, and 2008. If your income is too low, they can take the average of past 3 years. You need to be above the poverty line for income. http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/I-864P.pdf . this is the link to the poverty guidelines. Dont waste your time calling the NVC. Your case is sent electronically to Manila. Its emailed. NVC usually turns these casses around fast, like a few days. Because the Embassy actually will do the most of the processing because remember technically this is a non-immigrant visa. You wont get any packets from NVC. NVC doesn't really process anything. NVC processes the IMMIGRANT visas. This is when you get packet from them and it takes forever lol. This is why they came out with the K visa. Because its not right to keep family members apart for a year or 2 or 3 lol. Because NVC will take a year just staring at your case lol. Once the US Embassy gets your case, like i said a few days after NVC gets it they email everything to Manila. In a couple of weeks the US Embassy will send you a letter saying that they got your case and will begin processing it. They will send this letter to both parties. Petitioner gets 1 and the person in Philippines gets same letter. If you DONT get such a letter in a few weeks from your NOA2 date, then you start calling the NVC and Embassy. Actually you can email Embassy, I dont think the NVC has a email address for you to email them. Because they dont want to be BOTHERED lol. Now new in Manila, like since 2007, they dont send you an interview appointment. You pick it yourself. OK here is how it goes. US Embassy gets your approved petition from USCIS via NVC. Embassy sends you and the fiancee varification that they got it. About 2 or 3 months later after they finish processing it you get a letter saying OK They have it processed and ready to go and tells you how to get your interview. You have to call their info line, buy a pin number then I think now you can actually pick ur date on phone. I know you can also go online at their website and log on and pick it using your pin. Or maybe thats changed ? My friend just got her K-1 , I will email her to find out whats the latest going on at Embassy. Like Scot said too, each embassy has their own little ways of doing stuff so please check with the US Embassy website that will actually process your case. I only am familiar with Manila. If anyone needs help in manila let me know. I plan to meet Aiza in Manila and go with her to her interview. I'm also going to Philippines next week too. Ingat everyone

After the interview and your approved, they send your passport with the visa attached inside the passport to the fiancee. They send it using DHL , thats what it sounds like to me. Well you have to pay the fee that DHL charges for delivering your passport with approved visa inside it. So I guess you need to pay it before you go to the interview and they give you a reciept and on reciept is number the Embassy will use on the actual DHL envelope showing you paid the postage/fee etc..

In manila they use Air21, but they have a counter right there in the Embassy and you pay the fee there and then hand the reciept in afterwards.

UPDATE. You can not select visa interview apointment online anymore. You do it on the phone. I guess operator asks what day you want and you reply TOMORROW hahaha. Manila will send u a letter advising they are ready to process your case and give you a case number that starts with the letters MNL . Once you have this letter and case number then you can call and get your interview scheduled.

Here in Australia from what i'm led to believe,we get allocated an interview date once they receive packet 3

That is the same for most.. the response to pkt 3 is pretty much you saying yup.. I am ready..

we have 2 forms to submit.. one that says.. I know I should not do anything stupid like quit my job yet... and the other is section 1 of the DS 230... Info about the beneficiary and thier family.
