Has anyone traveled to the US to wait out the CR-1 visa? My husband and I are considering him coming over on the visa waiver until the medical/interview date? We just completed all the requirements at NVC and are waiting for them to review the documents and get an interview date. I know, it might not be too long, but financially we could do it, and we're tired of being apart.

So I'm just wondering if it's even a possibility. If anyone has any input, I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

if you are almost finished at NVC your husband could get a July interview.. Is it worth it to spend all that money when you could be together by Aug? Also remember that he will need to get his medical done and get ready to leave the UK, so that once he has his visa in hand he can get on the first flight he can.

Ugh, I know. It has just been too long, and we want to be together. We're still contemplating it. I was just wondering if it was even a possibility. :)

There is no way to tell if he will be allowed to enter the US as they will know he has a CR1 in progress. He will need to have some strong evidence that he is going to return after his visit. If he did get refused entry he would be put on the first flight back to the UK at his own expence.

Thanks. I guess we really need to decide if it's what we want to do then. I suppose, if we do get assigned an interview the next week like some people suggested might happen, then there isn't really any reason to, eh?

I really miss my husband. :(

So, the only issue is basically that the customs officers MIGHT deny him entry?

Right.

If you decide to try it, you might have him book a flight where he exits the UK via Dublin International Airport. Make certain the flight is one wherein he does immigration in Dublin. That way if he gets turned around, at least it's not such a long journey back to the mainland.
