hi folks!

with the wealth of knowledge that is visajourney, i'm calling on any of you denver folk out there. i'm considering a job in denver but i've never been there and i'm wondering if anyone can shed some light on the interracial couple scene there. right now i live in madison, wi - the capital of liberal society!

any ideas on more accepting neighborhoods etc?

i'll be visiting this next weekend, but i'd love a heads up before i go.

thanks for any help!

"iowa" on the mortal city album

I went to Denver for work once. Gorgeous city with a wonderful museum and zoo (though I tend to get depressed at zoos. Poor animals.). I found everyone to be very nice and open and not judgemental. Except one. I had a cabby who was from "a place in Africa" (that's how he said it) who spent the whole cab driving informing me the downfall of American society was the promiscuity of women everywhere and the new belief that women should be allowed to, 'be free with themselves'. But you get crazy people like that everywhere, don't you? I wouldn't judge the rest of the very nice people on that one looney.

Good luck!

And so he did what countless punk-rock songs had told him to do so many times before: he lived his life

10/07/2006 WEDDING DAY!

11/14/2006 AOS packet made it to 'the box' after being overnighted.

12/02/2006 Paul had biometrics

12/14/2006 AOS Forwarded to CSC AND AP Application approved.

01/17/2007 First touch of 2007 at CSC

01/20/2007 Touched AGAIN (also the 18th) come on...

February: Oops, RFE for a REGISTERED marriage certificate. Oops! Overnighted it.

02/28/2007 Paul gets email letting us know his GREENCARD is on it's way! It's done...for now!

03/09/2007 Paul's greencard arrives. And breathe...

We began with mailing the I-129 in on February 27, 2006 so the whole process took us approx. one year.

Good luck out there!

Parker and Englewood are nice areas. Or they were when I lived there in 1998, at least.

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.

Hi there!!

Luis and I have been here in Denver for a year, and as an interracial couple, feel really comfy. You'll find Colorado to be a pretty conservative state, but Denver as a city is more liberal/moderate. Up and coming hip neighborhoods include historic Baker's and the Highlands, but your real estate and rents in those areas are going to be pretty high. We live in a little townhome in southeast Denver, and our neighbors we found out are a young interracial couple, she's from CO and he's from Nigeria. So they really are all over.

Come on out! It's great out here!
