hi everyone..

me and my husband booked a las vegas trip this coming june 13-15, 2009.

today, i received my ASC appointment notice and my biometrics date appointment is june 13 at 10am.

our flight is 11am..

how long does it take for the biometrics to be taken?

or is it possible to go there earlier than our appointment date?

as much as possible i don't want to have it rescheduled. coz that might take our application longer.

any advice is appreciated.

thanks!

It is a photo and finger print. 10 minutes tops, but add to that waiting time, who knows? Unless the office is at the airport you will not make an 11 am flight. Make an infopass appointment and see if the date can be moved up. Many local offices do biometrics on a "walk in" basis, which means you need an inforpass appointment.

You can easily change Vegas plans. Most hotels are begging for customers. If you are taking a plane, then you can likely change to a late night flight, no prob, cuz of frequent flights from Socal. Dont add the drama of "being devastated". Girl, you got to celebrate the AOS!!!

Give your man a good ride in Vegas! :)

Some offices will take walk-in biometrics appointments. "Devastated" does seem a little extreme in this situation. It would be more devastating to get a denial letter, no?

we have an infopass appointment on june 1 since they misspelled my name in immigration database.. we'll try to ask if we can have the biometrics earlier than the appointment date.

i know it's easy to have the trip rebooked, but my husband is only available on that weekend. it's not easy to file for a leave and june 13-15 is the only date my husband's employer gave.

we'll try to inquire on June 1, thru our infopass appointment, or will do walk-in. we'll take the risk.

sorry for the extreme word, "QUITE devastated".. and i'm not trying to be drama queen....

and fool is not a good word.

anyway, thank you for all the replies. i really appreciate it.

now I'm relieved....

Definitely, go to the application center you were supposed to go and try to have them take you early, as a "walk-in". They might do it. Or, if your appointment is at 10, try at least going in first, at 8AM when they open the office.

It is not a 10 mins only if there are people ahead of you - you'll stand in line and wait to be called on a first-in-first-out basis, even if your appointment is at 10AM. You're going to fill in a form that contains personal data (age, color of hair, weight, etc.). If they don't take you as a walk-in, at least ask for this form so you'll have it ready.

In Chicago they refused to take me as a walk in, although there was nobody in line, no applicant at all at the center. I took this form, had it filled, and been taken first among those that entered the center, although I was like the 10th in line.

11/17/08 : Application sent (I-130, I-131, I-485, I-765)

11/18/08 : Official receipt of documents stated on I-797C (Signature for receipt at USCIS was on 11/17/2008 at 10PM)

11/28/08 : NOA Received ( I-797C) for all 4 forms (forms issued on 11/26/2008)

12/18/2008: LUD on I-130, I-131, I-765

01/29/2009: Bio done

01/29, 30/2009: LUD on I485 and I765

2/10/2009: issued AP, valid 1 year for multiple entries.

2/23/2009: Got EAD card

3/8/2009: LUD on all applications. Shows approval of I131 and I765, still pending on I130, I485.

04/28/2009 at 9:30 AM: Interview. Told to wait 90 days for a resolution by mail.

05/01/2009: Card production ordered.

05/06/2009: Received approval NOAs for I130 and I485 (welcome notice, 10 years card). I130 still shows case received and pending.

06/18/2009: got the 10 years validity card. Process length: 213 days since sending the applications.

No RFE at all along the process.

As stated above - most ASCs take walk-in appointments (as long as the person has their original appointment letter which you do). That means you could go pretty much any day (they are open) between now and your appointment date and get it done. You should be just fine.

Yes, you should go a day or two before, and bring your appointment letter and your trip itinerray to show the schedule conflict.

They should be able to take you early.

Many local offices do biometrics on a "walk in" basis, which means you need an inforpass appointment.

Infopass appointments are in the USCIS field Office... Biometrics are at the Application Support Center.... Many are not even located anywheres near each other... so an infopass to do a biometrics "walk-in" probably won't be effective...

YMMV
