Out of interest, is anyone's CRIS online status changing to reflect the bio letters going out? Or is the status just stuck... :P

woot in a good twist of fate, turns out my letter did come today :dance: My appt is on 7/11 strangely in Elizabeth, NJ instead of Newark.

Did you run into this too Moshin?

I'm wondering if anyone knows of how walk-ins are handled in Elizabeth? I've seen that a few people on VJ have walked in, now I don't technically have a good reason, although I'm sure I could think of one... Just wondering how easy it would be to walk-in and take care of this

CColdwell - I guess if you wanted to try the walk-in you could, depends if it would make a difference in your case. For example, I know I will not get an interview prior to my 3 year anniversary of being a PR (because I wouldn't be eligible to naturalize) in September, so I know I have to do the biometrics before this date, but when exactly before doesn't probably matter too much. Now if you are already eligible (fulfilling the residency requirements etc), I guess it could help some (but probably not a lot) in getting an interview date earlier... Obviously it depends on the workload of your local office also...

ETA: no bio letter for me yet :( Maybe today's mail? :P

Hmmm that's true. I actually already do meet requirements. My issue with timing is more a desire to at least have this citizenship by November. So I think I'm going to wait until the actual appointment date. My local office seems to be processing at a good pace, so I shall let them do their thing haha.

This is a second try for me. I applied in Jan 09 based on marriage to USC, based on 90 rule prior to 3 yrs. Turns out, I applied a little early. Problem was that I already had GC from my employer a yr before I got married, so I filed abou 15 days prior to my 3rd anniversary, whereas the 90 rule only applied to the date on the GC. I know its a little confusing, but in short to file on marriage basis you HAVE to pass your 3rd anniversary.

I am sorry to hear that this is the second attempt.. Did you have to pay the filing fee twice? Which stage did you get to in your first attempt? I saw "Walk-in" biometrics in your signature...does Phily ACS allow that? :blush:

Yeah, USCIS never make things easy to understand, though I do think the flow chart they had in one of the 'manuals' for naturalization was very good - sometime visuals are much more helpful :D Hope they didn't cash your check the first time around before you figured out you weren't eligible to file... Good that you have Tata in this list too, filing at the same DO, really great to compare timelines too.

I am sorry to hear that this is the second attempt.. Did you have to pay the filing fee twice? Which stage did you get to in your first attempt? I saw "Walk-in" biometrics in your signature...does Phily ACS allow that? :blush:

All the way in the interview - they told me that I applied too early, and had to withdraw my application right there. I had to pay the filing fees again too, what a bummer!

Anyways, yes they let you do the fingerprints by walking in. I did that last time and so did a couple other people that I know. Just pick a day and get there early, you'll be out in 15-20 mins.
