Congratulations, KBF! Good Luck, Malydon! Welcome to our newbie!

I received my Interview letter yesterday for Atlanta DO. It asked me to bring the any document regarding the Selective Service. I did not register with Selective Service as I came to US firsttime after my 27th birthday and I did not have any Status Information Letter either. Do I have to get any status information letter .

Your help is appreciated.

We received two letters yesterday first says that the interview will be rescheduled and the second day the interview is the 20th of October. This is a real bummer. We leave for El Paso TX for 9 weeks on Sunday. We are going today to see if they will still interview her. If not we are considering flying her back here of the interview or requesting a new location like Albuquerque NM which is close. Don't know how backed up Albuquerque is? We are really bumming!

Svrao - you don't need a SIL letter - the IL is a template thing (for example all women will receive this SS checklist item on their IL and it's not even necessary for them), so if you were 27 when you first entered, you don't need to have a letter for this, the IO will realize you are not supposed to have registered.

Malydon - sorry to hear about all the rescheduling issues :wacko: I hope it works out today for you :star:

Sorry for delay. Interview went very well. lady was very cooperative...To me it look like that all she was concerned was that "all my info is correct on form"....

KBF - yeah I had that feeling too that they are just looking through for administrative mistakes. Which I think means, the people at NBC are actually the ones who are important, and perhaps they are 'pre-approving' cases, or flagging things for the IOs to query on. Unlike Daveh's experience, I didn't get the feeling the IO yesterday had looked at my file at all before the interview, he actually mispronounced my last name (missed half of it), whereas the civics IO had been making fun of my 'famous' last name...

My wife got her Oath letter today! It is scheduled for the USCIS office, rather than the standard location in Campbell, CA. I'm assuming this has something to do with her wanting to change the spelling of her name.

Congrats! I just found out your wife's case that you have waited a long time for the interview. It was the same to me that waited till the latter coming persons being called in. I think each IO has assigned a list of people to interview. It was because I saw each IO carry a list and calling the names who wasn't at the waiting room. Thus if the IO is slow then it happens.

Also, I heard that San Jose office has about 8 ceremony this month and only there's only one big one at Campbell which is 9/17 that maybe rush for your wife's case. I hope I can get the Oath letter soon as well.

Thanks Guys, I spent some time today (early start in the morning for a 7.30 appointment) preparing a passport application, completing my form but not signing it and making sure I have my 10 year GC, and the letter as well as my little aussie flag pin!

We have a full day planned tomorrow, with a quick trip home after the ceremony to scan and print copies of the certificate, go to the Social Security office to change my status and then to the courthouse or city hall to put in the passport application. I hate the feeling of being unable to travel again, lol but I will add my details to the passport list on this forum, and keep watching and wishing you luck as you all complete your journeys, too

All Done! 176 people from 46 countries were naturalized in the 1st ceremony today. Hopefully Red Diablo found a place to park, as it was crowded with a long line of people waiting at 7.20am, but the ceremony was all completed before 9am.

Since then I have been to SS Office, completed my voters registration and sent my passport application on its way.

1. Please make sure you are using Rich Text Editor as your message setting.

2. Click 'Reply' on the most recent/updated posting version of this list (not a quoted response, pls).

3. Remove quotes (top and bottom) around the list.

4. ALWAYS use the Courier new font (size 2).

I think it's like a job interview. You would hope before your interview that the interviewer has read your resume. Since this process involves a lot more paperwork, I think it takes much more time for them to prepare for each interview.

I'm still not certain if they took my wife's name change into account (spelling only). She said her IO didn't ask about it. We'll know next Friday.
