Wannabe texan, this is so funny about your dog! :rofl: What kind of dog do you have?

I carry my booklet with me in the purse everywhere I go, thinking I might study, but it is more like a peace of mind kind of thing!

Thank you Tata and wannabe_texan for your blessing. I passed my interview but didn't get the question about 9/11.

The questions are not too hard. I can give you some hint from the answers. I bet you guys know the questions. BTW, I don't remember the actual sequences of the questions.

1. American Indians

2. Barack Obama

3. Nancy Pelosi

4. Bill of rights

5. Mississippi and Missouri river

6. July 4, 1776

I was told to read a sentence starts with Abraham Lincoln ...(sorry I have bad memories) and then to write a sentence "Lincoln was the president during the civil war."

I was quite nervous before going to the interview and was waiting a little bit longer in the waiting room then the people coming after me and I started to worry if I have something wrong on my case.

Anyhow, it went ok and the IO was nice but a bit serious. However, she did help a lot. Thanks to her.

It seems that I might get an oath on Sept. 25 which the IO told me. However, I will be sure till I get the oath letter. I would like to hear news from Treyu too.

Thank you wannable_texan. Good luck to your interview on 9/14 (right?). To tell the truth, the last 2 days were my most nervous days. I bet you will have a smooth interview. :thumbs:

Hey, WishAllGood, where were you? I was there and I did have to wait a bit before I got interviewed. The line for just entering the building was so long and I was like at the last end of it...til I looked back and realized there were more people lining up after me! Got there 40 minutes early but was interviewed 30 minutes after my scheduled time. The IO apologized, she was really nice.

I passed my interview test, too! I was so nervous and excited at the same time, I could hardly keep myself from fidgeting on my seat. I remember what I wrote down: "Abraham Lincoln was the president during the civil war."

I remembered some of the questions that were asked but for brevity, will just post the answers here:

1. July 4, 1776

2. Nancy Pelosi

3. Missouri River

4. 4 years (for President)

5. 435 members

6. Sets up government (what does Constitution do)

7. Native Americans

8. Bill of Rights

9. 27 Amendments

10. Freedom to practice any religion or not to practice any religion

11. Civil Rights Movement

12. 27 Amendments

13. Congress (who makes federal laws)

Ooops! I don't remember which of these were asked and which were not. So I just wrote down all the answers I thought I answered. Hahahahahahahh! I am a loony!

The officer told me I was very good (like giving me a score in primary grade) and asked me if I have any questions. I was so nervous and excited at the same time, I could not think of any. So she told me that I passed my interview and that I should wait for my schedule for oath-taking in the mail.

I will check my mail every day next week starting Wednesday. Funny though, she did not even ask me for my supporting documents, all she asked me were what I have written on the application form. And I was so prepared, I have three envelopes with me, full of pictures and passports, and important documents.

11/18/2009 - USCIS received petition

11/24/2009 - Check cashed

11/24/2009 - USCIS NOA notice date

11/30/2009 - Received 1st NOA (Thanksgiving delay)

02/17/2010 - Received 2nd NOA

02/23/2010 - AOS and IV Fee Bills Received

03/01/2010 - Paid AOS and IV Fees

03/09/2010 - AOS and IV Fees Showed as PAID (delay = system was down)

03/10/2010 - Sent IV and AOS package to NVC (I have a representative)

03/12/2010 - Package received by NVC

03/17/2010 - Package registered in the System

.......................waiting for interview schedule, sent mom a copy of the AOS and IV package

3/25/2010 - Case completed at NVC. Waiting for email notification for interview date.

4/13/2010 - Interview date set for May 13, 2010

7/12/2010 - Medical passed

7/15/2010 - Interview Schedule

7/21/2010 - Visa received from Air21 (Visayas)

8/02/2010 - US entry at POE

When was your interview scheduled time? Mine was at 12:30pm. When I arrived, there was only 2 people in the room. And, I saw people after me been called in immediately. My interview time was also about 30 minutes later than my schedule time.

It seems that you have the same written test as mine. I can't recall what I was asked to read though. I only remember it's about Abraham Lincoln too.

Anyway, congrats to you too. Let's both wait for the best to come soon. :star:

It seems that you have the same written test as mine. I can't recall what I was asked to read though. I only remember it's about Abraham Lincoln too.

It's scheduled for Oct. 19 at 8:45 a.m. - maybe I'll have a same day oath ...

That would be a really neat coincidence since my father is going to be here for a visit at that time so he could witness my oath :star:

Happy to report that my application was recommended for approval today and received my Oath Letter for October 21st :dance: :dance: :dance:

Here's my experience:

The Houston DO is up by the airport. We arrived early due to hubby's speeding (ah these natural born citizens :jest:). Parking is pretty tight, they had an overflow parking lot. My husband has spine issues so he can't walk very far, so we had to use his disabled tag to get a space close to the building. Very unfriendly security guard working the gate.

Passed through security to get into the building, no cell phones allowed, metal detector is super sensitive, I was wearing a silver bangle that set it off... Hubby had to remove belt. Once you get inside there's a huge hall of different areas each with their own seating sections, Infopass long line, another for Permanent Residency, another for Deportation :o and finally right at the end is Naturalization. So I drop the letter in the box and wait. I'm about 40mins early for my appointment. About 10 mins later, a friendly IO comes out, and calls my name. We go off to a cubicle to the side of the seating area to do the Civics/English Test. He makes a few jokes about my surname (I have a 'famous' name).

Civics answers:

- 6 years

- 9

- declared our independence from GB

- Speaker of the House

- Washington DC

- executive branch

English reading test was Where is the White House? Writing: The White House is in Washington D.C. IO made a joke that he thought it was funny he had to test people from England's english :)

So passed all that, then back to the waiting area for the interview... freezing cold in there, totally over AC'd. Only about 10 mins wait, and younger IO calls my name and we go back to his office. Introduces himself, tells me to put my stuff down (I have armfuls of files :)) and raise my right arm to tell the truth etc. We sit down, I give him my passport, GC and DL and he starts reviewing file, at first he queries the spelling of my last name, he seems a bit confused and he's looking through the namecheck docs (I can read some of it upside down), for one moment I thought there was a problem but he resolved it I guess in his head *phew*. Then moves on to asking me about my husband, his name, where was he born, what does he do? Looks through our app, asks me for original marriage cert, hubby's passport and birth cert. Looks through the app some more, and asks "who put this package together?" And I said I did, and he says "this is really great, it makes my job so much easier" :) Asks about our home that we purchased at the beginning of the year, and that was great, and I had the feeling everything was going very well... Asks about do we have children (we don't), and I said no, just dogs/cats... Anyway that sent us off into meandering conversation about dogs, and how he wants a dog, and his neighbor has a terrier, and he can't remember what type it is. So he starts Googling in the middle of the interview, and showing me pictures of Irish Terriers. Asked if I had pics of our dogs, and I said no, they are all in my phone, and its in the car because of security so I can't show them to you... Of course, I have EVERY utility bill, major purchase receipts, bank statements, life insurance, house insurance, auto insurance, wills etc for the last 3 years - but no pictures of my dogs :jest: We talk about the SPCA, and different kinds of dogs etc etc...

Finally we get back on track after about 10-15mins, he looks through the tax transcripts, asks some other minor details, and starts stamping things.... Asks me to sign my pictures with my regular signature, and to put that same sig on the N400 (because I had signed my full first middle last name, not my everyday sig), so did that. Check through what is going to be on my certificate, (wrong country Ukraine is in there, not UK :)) and gives the approval letter :dance: Says the next Oath is Oct 21 and to wait for the OL outside. I asked him if there's any chance to get in on Wednesday's ceremony but he says no, the cutoff was Friday - oh well... He walks me back out to the door, and I thank him.

OL took about 40 mins to get, and the date of the interview is noted as July 14 not September 14, but I guess all that matters is the Oct 21 date... :)
