I got my yellow CFR letter. It is very generic and asks me to bring original plus English translation of the all foreign language documents.

During my greencard process, I had submitted my birth certificate in my native language. I think they are talking about that.

CColdwell,

Hope you are doing well. When is there going to be some relief for Newark filers? Did you call them recently to ask whats going with Interview Letters?

Thanks

Sid

I'm doing alright, very anxious haha. Well I decided to call in today to see what's going on with my application. The 2nd level IO told me that my yellow letter should be in the mail soon, but I still haven't been scheduled for an interview. :( She said definitely a few more weeks. At this rate it'll probably be Sept before I get the letter. *sigh*

Ugh - I'm sorry to hear this - why is Newark taking such a long time? I thought Naturalization numbers were down across the country... do they have a big backlog at Newark or something - seems pretty odd... One would think the East Coast and West Coast offices would serve about the same amount of people, or am I totally missing something?

Hi PRK73,

good to see you got a "life sign" too. My yellow letter asked for that as well (foreign language documents plus English translation).

I am also asked to bring 2 passport-style photographs with that specific requirements to the interview - I had already submitted them in the N-400 package.

But I'll bring them anyway since I'm going to need photos for the passport application ...

Way to go, interview letter! :)

I wish I knew, I really do :(

I too thought the same thing too, *sigh* who knows at this point. At least I won't be bothering my sister for awhile, but it is still disappointing to know that the earliest I could hear something is Sept at this point. Well, I'm crossing my fingers for everyone else!

Cheers

Hello Neolla,

I did biometrics at elizabeth on 18Jul. I have not received anything yet. Hoping for something this week. Have you tried calling USCIS at Level 2 to ask when is your interview date at Newark? They should have it since your case is transferred to Newark office already. All the best :)

Just wondering how many of you are choosing the old test and how many are choosing the new test?

I don't think we have a choice here.

"Files* the Application for Naturalization, Form N-400, ON or AFTER October 1, 2008, will take the new test." - USCIS.

My husband was told at his biometrics he could choose between the old test and the new test. This isn't the first time I have gotten conflicting advice. It's not like I'm new to this- we've been doing this for years. I think I'm just fed up at this point. Wishing you all good luck- I'm done posting.

See my timeline for all previous dates!

Naturalization:

6/28/09: Mail N-400 to Texas

7/6/09: NOA1

7/24/09: Biometrics

10/08/09: Interview

11/21/09: Receive oath date

01/22/10: Oath Date

With thanks to all the helpful people who made this journey slightly more bearable.

10-21-09 Interview & Oath

I successfully completed my interview yesterday in San Diego, downtown. My interview was at 12:45 pm and I arrived at 12:40 pm. (I should have come early...but there was lot for traffic and had difficult time get a parking spot). Anyway I was called in at 12:42 and IO was very nice. At first I was asked to take the oath and then he went through the application. I made one international trip since I applied, but the IO was not interested in that so I did not bother to mention that. He just asked me whether I will bear arms in case I need to, to which I answered "yes". Then he took the test, asked me 6 questions (very simple questions...# of senetors, age for voting, ...i don't remeber others). Then he congratulated me for passing the test and said that he is recommending me for approval. I was out of the office in less than 10 minutes.

I asked the IO to put me to oath on wednesday (19th August), but he said there is a 10 day cut off date so he cannot put me in. He said that I will get the oath letter in mail in next couple of weeks.

In all very pleasant experience. Just wished if I could get my oath done sooner, but that's ok....
