I called the university of kansas before and they suggested WES, which doesn't mean they are good.

I got a different question. I always thought they would also do translations, but apperently I was wrong. Do you guys think I'd be better of having my transcripts translated here or in the US. My school here in germany has never been very cooperative and told me that they can't translate my transcripts. I don't know if I could do it myself or if a certified translator has to do it. I'd be thankful for any advise.

Hey there

If you plan on using WES, here's a link to their website FAQ on how you can handle translations with them http://www.wes.org/application/faq.asp#j

I would do it in Germany as it *might* be difficult to find translation services in the US, depending on where you're going to live.

Ok, I called WES and after at least 15 minutes on hold, i got to talk to an operator regarding the Bologna Process. The first dude on the phone was clueless and kept saying to check their website. I insisted and asked to talk to someone else. The lady after that was categoric: WES DOES recognize european degrees with the Bologna Process.

I'm going to file an application with them, and I hope to get more than with ECE, where my french master's degree was turned into a minor inside a US Bachelor of arts!!

So WES does recognize the Bologna Process.

ECE and Josef Silney & Associates does NOT.

I will update as soon as i have some results, I hope to see a difference!!

UPDATE:

I got my transcripts evaluation done through WES in the mail today and it was well worth the money and wait!

My two bachelor's degrees were recognized as well as my master's degree!! :)

So relieved!!

I would STRONGLY suggest immigrants from Europe to go through WES to get their transcripts evaluated as this is the only organization (i've heard of - feel free to rectify here) that recognizes the Bologna Process.

The countries that are current signatories of the Bologna Process can be found HERE

My transcripts had to be sent directly to WES by the institutions that issued them in sealed envelopes. I don't know the requirements for the UK though. You might want to check the WES website for this and the costs, and also see what kind of credential evaluation you need.

I'd just like to say that I had a very good experience using WES - and their evaluation has been accepted by all of my employers out here in the US (Private Security Companies, a major Oil & Gas company, and the US Military!).

I came out well with the GPA - my British Degree class was a 2:2 - which meant I couldn't apply for a lot of grad jobs back in the UK as they required a "minimum" of a 2:1....I was given a 3.19/4.0 GPA, which has helped a lot with applying for grad jobs here as most seem to want a 3.0 or higher - some a 2.5!

Married to my USC Spouse in the UK 08/17/2006

Entered the US with my CR1 on 09/25/2007

Mailed I-751 application on 07/14/2009 to CSC

I-751 package arrived at CSC on 07/16/2009

Check cashed on 07/20/2009

NOA1 Dated 07/16/2009

Biometrics Appointment 08/21/2009

Touched 08/24/2009

APPROVED 09/14/2009

Card Production Ordered 09/22/2009

Card arrived in the mail 09/28/2009

US Citizen as of 10/20/2010!
