I just finished talking to my fiancee. She saw the way another VJ'er prepared her papers for her interview on Visa Journey. She noticed on a picture of this persons birth certificate a red ribbon. Is this significant? My fiancee has her birth certificate from the NSO office but was curious about the red ribbon on the other persons certificate. Her certificate does not have a red ribbon. I told her I thought as long as it's on the NSO security paper it should be fine. Secondly, before we decided to apply for fiancee visa she applied to be an Au Pair in another country but was refused to enter that country because she didn't finish high school. She had to drop out of high school to take care of her brother and mother and never finished. The foreign country put some sort of stamp in passport. I'm assuming this won't be a problem during her interview at the US Embassy when the consular officer inspects her passport. But if anyone has had a similar experience I would like to hear your thoughts. I'm hoping these are not serious issues as her interview date is June 16th. I appreciate your thoughts and/or advice on these two hopefully insignificant issues. God Bless all and best of luck to everyone!

as long as it came from the NSO (not sure what color they have now, but mine was green) and original, it should be ok... mine doesnt have ribbons either.

My fiance's NSO birth certificate, I think was on orange paper. She is from Negros and got it at the Cebu office. It is barely readable. It looks like they ink blotted the writing on it. She got her baptismal cert. and some other church documents to help support her birth certificate just in case. Her interview is on June 10th.

The Red Ribbon is for DFA Authentication. I wanted one on our marriage certificate, but the wife did not want to go through the process. The NSO copies are sufficient.

Your fiance may be qeustioned about the stamp at her interview. Not sure if this will be an issue since it was for another country, but she should be prepared to explain the circumstances.

Thank you all for the clarification regarding the red ribbon. I'll let her know that she might have to explain the stamp in her passport. Best wishes and good luck to all!
