Liberals tend to be all over bringing standards down to be inclusive of the lowest common denominators so that no one way or belief can be held out as superiror to another. They're about "equality", ya know, as long as it's a kind of equality that makes them feel superior to conservatives. Right now, conservatives and the religious are placed below the lowest common denominator on the scale of moral standards. That way, they can justify excluding our views as part of the social fabric. Liberalism is a means to feel good about being good without having to think about the consequences of your beliefs.

around the world (including Canada), and as far as anyone can tell, the social fabric of their societies

has not unravelled.

Of course, it may be a gradual process, so I will stay alert and keep you informed of any developments,

but as of today, marriage is no more meaningless in Canada than it is in the US just because gays and

lesbians are allowed to marry.

In greece, about 2000 years ago, men used to take young boys as lovers and it was widely accepted. Took 100s of years for that to unravel.

In america for 350 some years slavery was also ok and widely socially accepted.

i guess the question is...how sick and depraved does a society have to get before its too sick? And then when you get to that point, maybe they are calling YOU the conservative and the ones who should be more open minded.

If the Libertarian concept could gain enough support we might be able to Judge it;s successes or failures.

We actually agree on a number of concepts but one of the elements necessary to win a majority is to have a model of ideas enough people embrace.

Gay marriage is not natural as gay couples can't reproduce on their own. If everyone was gay, the human race would cease to exist in one generation. Kinda like mules.

So by your logic marriage is about reproduction...therefore people should not use birth control. And if every married straight couple in the world did not use birth control, I'm not sure how long the human race would last anyway. If everyone had children every time they have sex (when ovulating of course) then the worlds population would explode more than it already is and then we'd all die.

My thoughts are perfectly clear. A gay union is not a natural union. Let them live together and have every right as they well should. Marriage is between an man and woman.

I'm very late in coming here but my two cents on the subject (are we still on subject?) is that the only concern I could ever see legally or family wise on same sex marriage is due to the legal implications on heritage and guardianship of offspring. And my opinion on that is who cares? If Joe wants to leave Bob all he owns when he dies so what? And for grandparents, aunts/uncles, etc if you can't accept Joe as he is should you be raising his kid? Their life, their money, their problem.

And if anyone wants to argue on "lifestyle" being bad, etc, well, we all know many opposite sex families who can be really disturbing and unhealthy for kids, treat same sex relationships the same way by the same standards. Period.

And if Joe and Bob want a paper saying they wanna share their financial, legal, private, etc life, it's their problem as it's ours who we wanna share it with.

I agree people have the right to leave their property to who they want.

BUt because I agree with this does not lead me to believe people have a right to design for themselves what their idea of marriage is..... way too many opinions on that.
