Hi, Everyone.

I would like to ask for your immigration-related input on an unusual situation.

I brought my English husband to the U.S. in 2005 on a CR-1 visa. Mark and I had been friends for over a dozen years before marrying and he is a good and responsible man, but when he finally got here he suffered a mindbending series of major problems and setbacks and to make a long story short, he went back to the UK after only 5 months. For a number of reasons we decided that we should split. Our divorce was final this February.

Last year my job took me to Wales for several months, and while I was there I met and became involved with another UK citizen (not on purpose!). We never officially lived together, but I stayed with him most of the time while I was there and we've decided that if possible, we'd like to get married and settle in the U.S. (Note: He lived here for four years while he was working on his PhD, so he knows exactly what he's getting into!)

My question is, will it be more difficult to get a second CR-1? Will I be given an opportunity to explain what happened to my first husband? Does it even matter?

Thanks in advance for withholding judgment. I guess I gave so much detail because I'm concerned that people will think I'm disrespectful of or frivolous about the long and frustrating process you're all going through. It was difficult - I remember!

Best wishes to all of you for a speedy approval and a long and happy marriage.
