hi to all, just got my AP document and am not quite sure if i can use it to go back home to Canada for a visit. I was on a TN visa before i got married feb 2009 and applied for AOS in march.there was no lapse in status, meaning i applied for my AOS before my TN expired. anyways, im wondering if there will be issues reentering the US after a 2 week visit to canada since its technically not an "emergency" visit? i just want to go home for a couple of weeks to visit family and friends, since i havent been home for a long time.what do i say when the officer asks me what my purpose for my travel was outisde the US?anybody anticipate any probs?

also as far as documents to bring and/or present, just bring AP document, NOA for the AOS, copy of marriage cert and passport with my expired TN?

THANK YOU ALL in advance!

Once you have been issued the AP and have no out of status days in the US to cause problems you can use it to leave the US and return. It does not have to be for an emergency, it can be for a holiday or a family visit or even for tying up affairs in Canada. Just be honest and state your reason as visiting family and friends. Yes, bring all the documents you list - you should only really need the AP (both copies - they stamp both, keep one and give one back to you), the passport and the marriage certificate if your name has changed, but it won't hurt to bring the NOA as well. Good luck.
