I am a little worried. I found out I have to give all my financial information to sponsor my fiance. I don't have a bank account, and I don't make too much money. Will this cause a problem for him coming here? I live with my parents, and he will be living here. Everything was perfect until i found this out, now I am afraid because of my finances, I won't be with him. Anyone have any advice??

Do you make the poverty level? ($18,212)(depending where you live).

If you don't make that level - then you need a co-sponsor - perhaps your parents?

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

WARNING: Phrases in this post may sound meaner than they were intended to be. Read the Adjudicator's Field Manual from USCIS

Everything was perfect when you didn't know everything. Also known as "ignorance is bliss".

Yes you need to provide an affidavit of support and YES it will be a problem if you do not meet the guidelines for income. You do not need to have a bank account or other assets, but you need to make enough income ($18,212 per year for a family of two, you and fiance)

You can get a co-sponsor depending on the consulate, MOST accept them. Then they must also submit their finacial information and they must earn enough to be a sponsor. If you cannot meet the guidelines and cannot provide a co-sponsor (or the consulate does not accept co-sponsors) no visa will be issued.

Since you seem to be learning as you go, instead of informing yourself of all the information available before making a lifetime committment to another person and asking them to leave their home country to come live with you for the rest of their life....

Consider that after they arrive, you must submit financial information AGAIN for the Adjustment of Status (green card) AND pay the $1010 fee for adjustment of status.

Take some time and read through the Guides and the Example forms here on VJ. That will help you to find out what options are available to you and your fiance, what information is needed, what fees are involved, and a rough idea of how long the process will take.

Also read the regional forums to familiarize yourselves with the process in your fiance's country. Each consulate is a bit different.
