Thanks Catt, and good luck with yours too!! Tim was going to be here with me for it, but decided it was too hard financially right now with the wedding coming up and all, so he he's not coming!!! :crying:

Hi Joyce,

You will do fine!

I went to the Consulate by myself too, and it was no problem whatsoever.

Just prepare yourself in advance, and take all the required documents.

You already passed the USCIS Service Center, so at least that part is over already!

If you were approved without an interview, or if you have been approved and waiting for a greencard, you can make an infopass appointment for your local USCIS office and get the I-551 stamp placed in your passport. The instructions are included in the notice I posted. To make an infopass appointment you go to http://www.uscis.gov, go to the right hand column and select 'Schedule an appointment". Then follow the instructions. On the day of your appointment, bring your passport and whatever documentation that you have that will have either your case processing number or your A number. They will look up your information on the computer system to verify it, then put the stamp in your passport. The stamp is as good as a green card although it will have an expiry date. You should have received your green card by the time the stamp expires.

Just a heads up: Not all CIS Field Offices (or at least not every Officer) put the stamp in the passport at time of interview.

In my case, interview was at Atlanta Field Office. I asked for the stamp after the officer talked about the green card production delays. He said he could not give one immediately (although the application is approved). I should make an infopass appointment, if we want to travel abroad prior to receiving the green card, and should bring the welcome to America letter along.

OK.

I got the magic email from CRIS saying welcoming the new permanent resident.

It talks about ADIT processing.

What does this mean?

Application Type: I485, APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS

Current Status: Notice mailed welcoming the new permanent resident.

On May 27, 2009, we mailed you a notice that we had registered this customer's new permanent resident status. Please follow any instructions on the notice. Your new permanent resident card should be mailed within 60 days following this registration or after you complete any ADIT processing referred to in the welcome notice, whichever is later. If you move before you get your new card call customer service. You can also receive automatic e-mail updates as we process your case. Just follow the link below to register.

and then I also got this email:

*** DO NOT RESPOND TO THIS E-MAIL ***

The last processing action taken on your case

Application Type: I485 , APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS

Current Status: Card production ordered.

On May 27, 2009, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you. If we need something from you we will contact you. If you move before you receive the card, call customer service. You can also receive automatic e-mail updates as we process your case. Just follow the link below to register.

I got the card production ordered first on May 27 then the Notice mailed welcoming the new permanent resident on May 28 which says about ADIT.

Makes me confuse. Is this normal?I know I had my Biometrics done last April 24,2009 -> I-765 and I-485 at the same day.

The first email tells you that your AOS has been approved. They have sent you a letter saying so. But they have to create and then send out your greencard. The second email lets you know that they ordered your card to be made. When it is made, it will be mailed to you.

When your card is produced you will receive an email that says "Approval notice sent". Note that it may take some time to get your card. Some people have experienced delays with greencard. See the first post in this thread.

The delay varies. Some people have been waiting since approval in early May and still haven't received their greencards. My daughters were approved May 19th. We received "card production ordered" that day and then again May 28th, and we received their cards yesterday (June 5).
