I don't think he votes - if he does it doesn't seem to be based on what actually comes out of the campaigns. He was calling Obama a socialist ever since Obama announced he was running for the Presidency.

I suspect he's actually pretty apathetic about politics, certainly doesn't seem all that interested in what policy reforms the Obama or McCain campaigns were actually promoting or saying, only what he thinks they are.

All arguments are lost when they begin with calling Obama 'Socialist' or 'Comrade' or 'Fascist' as they immediately prove the poster is both a parrot for the Right wing disinformation juggernaut, or are morons unable to know what those terms actually mean and refer to, or both.

Q: What would Obama have to do.....to cause you to label him socialistic?

Obama did not get into office and suddenly announce he wanted to reform health care, it was a top priority during his campaign. The current system is insupportable, and destructive to the majority who live and pay for it to say nothing of those left behind, and destructive to the over all economy itself.

No name calling. Simply facts.

Are there way's to change the current system and make it better short of looking around at systems, be they imperfect around the world that work and creating a government run not for profit model that works? Perhaps, but 'no' and 'Obama is a socialist, fascist arch-fiend who wants to kill your grandma' are not ways to get there.

If Obama was as far left as people were saying he'd have been pushing for a total nationalisation of the healthcare system. As it is, he isn't.

The only "socialist" thing Obama has done are the bailouts of AIG and GM, but Bush was doing that too... In fact didn't McCain support the bailouts too?

Hard to see how things would be different as far as that went if he were President.

I wonder if we're dealing with adults in some of these posts. Some are correct to say than it isn't any one party that is responsible for the sorry state of affairs in America. However, it is one ideology that is responsible for it; Liberalism. Liberalism is rampant in the Republican Party as well as its home the Democrat Party. Democrats are admittedly Socialists. The honest democrats will tell you that. Government run health insurance is nothing more than socialism. Government run auto companies is socialism. When they start bailing out the media (because people stop drinking the koolaid) that will be done in the model of Hugo Chavez. Ever wonder why big-name hollywood democrats love dictator Hugo Chavez so much? Danny Glover (Obama supporter) has gone to Venezuela to show support for Hugo, Kevin Spacey (Obama supporter) travels to venezuala and meets with hugo regularly... So, you on the left can use the "shut up" technique of calling it McCarthyism, or irrational fear tactics, but bottom line is that it is true. What Obama is selling is socialism.

Oh wow...I'm just so confused now. Why do all of those Republicans support socialist, government-run programs like Tricare, Medicare, and Medicaid? Are they socialists too?

And how about every industrialized country in the world? They all have socialist, government-run health insurance. Is everyone a socialist? It's all so confusing.

Most of these Right Wing posters are posers. They parrot the same talking points by the Right Wing Media because that's their source for news. Try to actually engage them in a real discussion and they just parrot the same things over and over again because they don't have a genuine opinion to call their own.

For someone who has a college degree, they know better than to listen to the rhetoric that the media used. Heck, an intellectualist in academia knows better than to just simply follow what the media used as rethoric.

Just as the word "organic" is used to describe something is grown without interference by marketers ("organic" as used by chemists and scientists describe the properties associated with the carbon bonds - marketers manipulated the media to make people think differently), it's like saying "socialism" to Obama's followers. An educated person can filter out the rhetoric. An ignorant person don't have the intellectual capacity to distinguish the difference.

Only a fool would actually believe Obama is a socialist. However, throughout history there are some principles adopted from socialism for all the major parties (Jeffersonian Party, Federalists Party, Communist Party, Republican Party, Democratic, etc...).

Sorry for coming in late. The Russian press is something that, given my sig line, folks will understand I know a little about.

Pravda once was the primary newspaper of the State in the former Soviet Union. I wouldn't expect AlienLoveChild to know much about the Russian press and find it conceivable that he is lost somewhere in the past.

There are Russian press, newspapers and newsweeklies, in English translation, that provides interesting commentary on Russian, world, and US domestic affairs. Pravda isn't one of them. The same day that editorial appeared, there was a front page story about flying saucers landing in Kansas and abducting people. And on an inside page a story about a person who survived being eaten by a snake who was supposed to have been rescued several days later. Pravda makes the National Enquirer look like first rate, objective journalism.

Pravda is *exactly* the sort of source I'd expect Alien to bring to us. Thanks for the good work.

WT? On these health care threads, I have posted several clips of Obama, Rahm Emanuel, his brother, WH health care advisor Dr. Ezekiel Emmanuel, and HHS Sec. Katherine Sebelius ALL saying they want a single payer plan, to end private insurance, and that it has to be done incrementally. These are their words, straight from the horse's mouth, people, not someone's interpretation of what they want to do. Is anyone paying attention?
