I guess no one has seen the PMs that go around encouraging people to serial-report certain posters. Some people do it for fun.

That's been going on on message boards/forums for ages...VJ is tame compared to most/many...

I never. Part of free speech. Unless, the situation warrants an ATTENTION IMMEDIATELY! For example, suicidal maniac, a serial rapist, a psychopath, sociopath, etc...These people ruins everything, so you must report them.

I'm curious, how does one tell from a post if someone is any of those things you just mentioned...unless the person comes right out and says "I'm a suicidal maniac, serial rapist, psychopath, etc.?

You can tell when the time comes. Right now at the moment, nobody can tell. It's a unique situation. It's almost as if, how can you tell if the food tastes good.

I have never done it for what someone has said, but I have done it a lot of times to report duplicate postings, so that one could be deleted.

I go by the sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me philosophy of life, so I'm not going to rat out someone for calling me a bad word.

I once hit the "report" (instead of "reply") button by mistake.

And I have asked for flame-war threads I participated in (one that I started--intended as poll, not flame-war, but the poll-part failed; others that I didn't start) to be locked.
