For those with EADS or Greencards, how's the job search going? My husband has been at it for about a month. 2 interviews so far but no offers.

No job offers yet for me, Im still positive , I believe it will come in God's perfect timing.

I think it depends which field he is in. I am a teacher and got a teaching job right away here in Indianapolis. I am getting recertified now and getting my Indiana license, have to pass a bunch of tests and complete a bunch of courses. I am doing that while working.

My husband is in the IT field and we're in a great area for that. He also has a lot of experience so I guess we're just hoping for the best. I guess the job economy is pretty rough right now - for some atleast. Staying positive though.

Koakland, my husband is still searching also, had a couple interviews but nothing yet. His biggest hold up is his English, which he's still working on. Two of his interviews were at Mexican restaurants, and they both wanted him to work 48 hours a week, one for less than minimum wage with no tips, and the other tips only - BOTH are illegal! He's still looking!!!!

I got touched on Friday and today, so hopefuly that means something is on its way!!

The job search was pretty quick for me, I started looking before my EAD and was offered a job in my field the day after getting my EAD. It was good timing really. There are definitely jobs out there, so good luck to everyone searching!!

I still find it amusing that several of us are obviously all in the same pile...of all the people that go through this process, we truly did "stick" together!

It is weird how that happens, until I received the RFE I was receiving touches at the same time as a couple of people here. An RFE has a way of separating you from the pack.

Two of his interviews were at Mexican restaurants, and they both wanted him to work 48 hours a week, one for less than minimum wage with no tips, and the other tips only - BOTH are illegal! He's still looking!!!!

Good Luck to everyone still waiting. The touches are a good sign. Maybe this week!!

The job situation for Balvino has been difficult as well. He did get a job at a plant shed and liked the work but the managers were unorganized and some of the workers were crass. It was also under the table. He was only working three days but I did not like it and he seemed a bit unhappy. I pushed him to apply at Eli Zabar's shop around the corner. The Zabar family is famous here in NYC for their gourmet grocery store on the West side. The younger son of the family opened a whole franchise here on the East side. There is a bread stop, restaurant, grocery store and wine store. He got a job and loves it so far. Everyone is nice and it is a nice mix of nationalities. We filled out the W-4 and I-9 the other day...such a great feeling. He can get benefits after 6 months and a 401k after one year. I hope the job works out long term.

Stay strong in the job search and the lesson of our story is don't settle. Balvino didn't want to approach the manager but I pushed him and he is happier.

Thanks for sharing! We keep looking; well, I look, he applies haha! We just have to rely on God too because it's so hard in this economy! But we know that if we put him first he will give us what we need

My hubby applied at all the standard places around town, just got the call today for holiday work. It's better than nothing!
