Ok now that I have calmed down from my excitement what do I need to bring with me to the ss office to get my ssn?

Thank you!

If I remember correctly we took in our marriage certificate, and Balvino's passport with the visa. We had all the other paperwork with us but I do not remember needing it. Good Luck. I live in the Boston area right now and we went to the Waltham office. They were pretty nice.

Congratulations! I know how much you were waiting for the news!! And got so much news in one day! Don't be nervous, you'll do great and everything will be over sooner than you think ;)

I am officially worried. EVERYONE is getting their interview letters right after AP/EAD approved-received in the mail. It has been plenty of time since I received mine in the mail, and still no interview letter. And I needed it so bad, because my husband and I are planning a trip to Ukraine and need to know the date. I even made an INFOpass appointment for today, but they didn't know anything. Just said that the local office has nothing to do with this dates, and they cannot tell me why I still have not gotten it. I am slowly losing my mind :crying:

Botevinka - Congrats on the interview appt!

Koakland - We're supposed to bring the originals of all docs that we filed with the application. So yes, that would include the marriage and birth certificates and anything else we sent copies of. I'm also planning to bring another full set of photocopies in case they want to retain any of them for their files.

I don't think that I was clear. We are required to bring originals of the BC and MC to the interview but we submitted certified copies because there are no originals. I think most people submit that - a certified copy of the MC and BC from the issuing authority (the city or county that you were born in). For some people, the BC and the MC has the date issued on the MC/BC. Can this have any date on it or must it be within 3 months of the interview?

Koakland - I searched and couldn't find anything about the MC and 3 months. Maybe if you have time and feel more comfortable, if it was a certified copy within 3 months, you could go to the Clerk of the Courts where you were married and get another copy.

The lady at my local office said that they are not the ones setting the dates, and so they have the access to the same information that we have (online). So since the interview dates are not reflected in the online status anyhow, I won't be able to find out the date any how, but by a letter in the mail. I was so mad. It takes me 2.5 hours to drive to my local office and all I got was "I dont know". But anyway, I called the 800 number also, and the lady on the phone told me that they are going to be able to tell me anything about the interview dates only if my case is outside the timeline on my online status. (On July 15th, they resumed my case after an RFE and I should be expecting to hear something within 60 days). So in other words, if by September 15th I don't get anything, only then will they answer my questions. And if my mail got lost, and the interview was supposed to be on Aug 30 for example, then I am ... going to miss it I guess.

We just decided to go with the ones that we already have. We got married on 5/29 and the interview is 9/2. If they do require a MC that is less than 3 months old then hopefully they'll cut us some slack. I'm not going to worry about it too much. We'll just have the same certified copies that we sent with the paperwork.

The officer I spoke to today did look into his computer to see whether an interview has been scheduled for my case.

My issue? I'm scr**ed by our bureaucracy.

The first I-130/485 the lawyer submitted was incomplete, lacked signature, no G-28, etc. He told he had sent it but he didn't, not when he was supposed that is... but almost 60 days later. I gave up/fired him, completed my own and sent it. This is the second set of I-130/485.

Turns out the lawyer had sent the application 5 days before I did but he issued a stop payment against the check he sent (his own).

The problem started in Chicago with their contractors. When they got the second set of apps. they did not realize my name had just been entered a few days ago and I had an application still outstanding (THEREFORE my application and its payment should be consolidated). Instead, they issued a new NOA1 and assigned me new A# for me.

On 06/23/09 an officer in Baltimore issued a service request to the NBC to consolidate the applications. Nada. No response. Just a letter a few days later saying "We're processing it". (the application, not the request to consolidate).

Because of the bounced check the first set of 130/485 was put on hold, and just rejected a few days ago. Turns out the second app has apparently been put on administrate hold by NBC because of an outstanding debt.

So that could be one of the reasons I'm not getting an interview letter for me. The Burlington Finance Center people (very helpful) told me there's nothing they can do because they answer directly to the NBC... they're the ones who must annul the debt.

I owe Uncle Sam the processing fees for the 130+485 and $10 administrative fee, $30 bounced check fee and $3.42 in interest since 08/06.

The BIG dilemma is... write a check, pay the debt, and forever claim a refund from the NBC because they didn't do their job right (consolidate)...

or...

Wait for an answer to another letter/email to the NBC.

or...

even crazier: drive to Lee's Summit and picket until they let me in and give me 15 min. with their head honcho.

Aw man Leo, I wish I could help you. I hope you get things worked out. Not quite to the extent of your's, but I'm having to pay $150 to the phone company for international calls (from when Josue was still in Guatemala in December) that were supposed to be part of an international plan that I paid, because I went over my prorated minutes for that billing cycle, although the woman on the phone when I added the international plan told me "you have 6 days to use 500 minutes, talk away!" Thanks Everyone!! I hope we get some more news for everyone this week!

Aw man Leo, I wish I could help you. I hope you get things worked out. Not quite to the extent of your's, but I'm having to pay $150 to the phone company for international calls (from when Josue was still in Guatemala in December) that were supposed to be part of an international plan that I paid, because I went over my prorated minutes for that billing cycle, although the woman on the phone when I added the international plan told me "you have 6 days to use 500 minutes, talk away!" Stupid customer service...

This may be random, but you should look into skype! We pay $3/month for unlimited long distance! I think it's slightly more for unlimited world wide but not that much!!! :D

Sorry that you are having such a a rough time. If it was me, I would just pay it to get the case going and then try for the refund. Good Luck!
