Wow! That was super fast! Don't know how to contact but maybe you can just get a friend/family member to check your mail and if you get anything from USCIS have them open it and go from there. Maybe you'll have a date you can make and it won't be a problem at all!

It seems that there are so many filers in June, or at least high interest in this blog.

I just sent in my IR-1 AOS package (I-130 and I-485).

I paid $180 for medical exam by USCIS designated civil surgeon which included comprehensive blood test to see if I need any shots needed, I advise every one to get the USCIS designated civil surgeon near around your area from USCIS website. Normal doctors won't know what to do - you are not there to check your health, you are there to be checked whether you carry communicable disease.

Basically, from my understanding, you HAVE to use the civil surgeons listed on the USCIS website to prepare your AOS medical papers. You may use your own doctors for certain tests and vaccinations just to save money but you still need the civil surgeon to transcribe your medical record into the I-693 form, provided that your chosen civil surgeon agrees to that.

I had my full medical done yesterday and the doctor, the nurses and everyone else were pretty nice and friendly. So far everything went well except two things..... The doctor said my heartbeat is rather mild and she advised that I should get my heart and the valves checked (oh gosh!) and did TST and now I have a small bump on my arm! Not good. Won't go in again for reading until Friday! I am sure my heart will be beating as hard and loud then!!!!

Ugghh....... cheeeeeers!

Am so glad everyone was nice to you at the medical yesterday. They are usually very nice and concerning the bump on, your arm it will go away within days.So hopefully you will have your packet off next week?

Goodluck.

Hello all! My husband and I were married last Friday. :) we're getting the AOS paperwork together right now and plan on filing on Monday so I'll park it in here. My husband is handling most of the work but I do have one question:

- do we need to send the non USCs (my) birth certificate and if so, does it have to be issued within the last 6 mos? my husband thinks that he read this somewhere but i didn't see it in the guides or on the USCIS's instructions

Oh My,its obvious how happy you two are.Congrats and welcome to June filers.

Yes,Winfredbee is right, your BC doesnt have tobe issued within the last 6months.Just translate it if need be and has it notarized.

Goodluck and hope you have a fast process.

S

oops, I messed that up. I am the USC. My husband is the non USC. We figured it out though. I don't have to send my bc for AOS. Yesterday Jeremy (the hubby) went to a civil surgeon in our area to get his medical info transcribed. The office didn't give him any problems. He did have to get another vaccination because the foreign doc forgot to fill out a date on one of the vaccinations. All in all, it's working out. Now I'm getting my affidavit of support info together. We're still looking towards sending the paperwork on Monday.

Sounds like you are almost ready. I wanna send mine in...come on NOA2!

I have a question. I have been reading the April and May threads to see if I missed anything while preparing my forms. I have noticed that a lot of people mention sending in proof of relationship, such as, photos and things. Is anyone doing that? I was not planning to but now I am unsure.

Its optional, however when you recieve your interview letter, there are a list of supporting documents to take with you,,such as pictures, joint lease ,bank account or joint mortgage and such.Untill your AOS interview, its not neccessary. However, its okay to send them, but not a requirement.

Your A Number is also found on your K 1 visa directly under the annotion to marry a US citizen and also on the back of your I 94 form.

Hope that helps.

Goodluck,

I just checked the visa and we do not have the number at all...nothing on the back and there is no annotation. I see a place for a annotation but it is blank. What kind of bootleg visa did we get. Anyhow I found it on the NOA2 and all is well.

Nice to see more filers. Welcome!

I am not sure how long AOS is currently taking but I found this on the site:

Permanent Resident Card Production Delays

USCIS is announcing that applicants may experience up to an eight week delay in the delivery of their permanent resident card while we are in the process of upgrading our card production equipment. USCIS Field Offices will be issuing temporary evidence of permanent residence in the form of an I-551 stamp to applicants approved for permanent residence at the time of their interview. You will need to take your passport to your appointment. If you do not have a passport, you must bring a passport style photo and government issued photo identification to receive temporary evidence of permanent residence.

If the application is approved subsequent to your interview or by a Service Center or the National Benefit Center, the applicant should bring the above documents to an INFOPASS appointment to be issued temporary evidence of permanent residence in the form of an I-551 stamp.

Who knows with these guys.

Thank you so much for your wishes. I am sure the doctor will "diagnosed" the bump as positive for the TST and will send me for Chest X-Ray. I have had BCG vaccination when I was younger but I don't think that is a valid explanation for the bump and to avoid the chest x-ray... shucks!

Yeah I hope I will get to send the packet off next week..... I have all my forms ready, except the letter from the employer (my husband's) He has to go to another Sheriff's Office to speak to the HR people. I believe that should not take long.....

Let's wish us all the best of luck and speedy approval..hopefully without interview.. hehheee...... (I am dreaming already!)

Cheers.

Hey guys, my hubby is from Guatemala and we married on April 20 (K-1). I am just waiting on IRS transcripts from 2006 because the AOS asks for 3 years and we only had 2007 & 2008 from the K1 interview. Got a question for you all: should I (female USC) change my name now or send the paperwork with my maiden name and change it afterwards? I just dont want to cause any problems with the USCIS and their crazy rules!

Hello DavChels! How are you? I can tell you what we did, maybe that will help. After we were married and had our marriage certificate in hand with our name change...we both changed our last names...we went to the SSN office and changed my hubby's name and my name as well. I received my new SSN card with my new name yesterday. Super fast. We are still waiting for his which may take a month according to the office. When I was at the office I asked the lady and she said to start using the new names on all the paperwork from here forward. If you changed your name with SSN I would say use it on the forms. Good Luck!! I hope you mail yours out soon.

Hi, winifredbee.... Just out of curiosity if you don't mind, I was wondering why did your hubby change his name? I thought usually the wifey changes hers... I am lost... :(

Cheers.... :)

Cheers.... :)

It is a simple answer. He likes my last name and I like his. So we combined them. It was exciting to change my name. I never thought about it before.

How long does it take to get the SSN? I want to start getting our finances in order. I just got my hubby a Delta skymiles account for our up coming Ohio trip...no SSN needed:)

Hope all is well with everyone.

Soooooo romantic! I like! :star:

Yes, you don't need a SSN to apply for the Delta skymiles program. I got mine set up when I bought my tickets to come to the USA.

My SSC came in the mail 7-8 days after my application. Pretty fast actually!

Cheers...
