I hope they did not somehow separate the kids' applications from Bella's.

Bill, I believe when you call the 1-800 number one of the voice prompts asks you, and I quote as much as I remember:

"if you received a notice for some but not all applications filed, and believe some of the applications you filed together were separated, press X"

I also just noticed that on the I-485 NOA's for the kids, the A# has been changed to a new number. On the I-131 & I-765 NOA's for the kids the A# remained the original # (which is the number that is on their I-94's and is the same as Bella's #). This seems strange although it did not cause any problems at biometrics.

That's very strange. Was the number for both kids changed or just one? I recommend you stay on top of this and even call the 1-800 number and try to get a live human who can tell you something by A# instead of receipt number. Ask him/her about the previous # and new ones... see what they say. Hopefully someone else can shed a bit more on your case.

Thanks panna.

DavChels...the spreadsheet looks good. I have one concern though, on my interview letter, they put my 'priority date' as the date they received my application [05/26]. So in case you are keeping track of how long its been, i think you should start counting from the day they received your application, and not the date you received your NOA.

We just got our letter today for the transfer, and it says "receipt date June 17, 2009" which is our NOA date, so if it's ok with everyone else I think we should leave the spreadsheet sorted by NOA date.

Yes, USCIS' day ZERO is the day the generated the NOA so we should be paying attention to that date for the most part. I'll add a new function to the spreadsheet that I hope everyone will enjoy... a day tracker.

Has anyone done any travelling since arriving in the US? I mean travelling inside of the US, before AP/EAD/AOS has been approved but after filing? My husband is flying to DC next month and we're wondering if he'll have any trouble using his passport as his "government-issued id" due to his expired I94. He doesn't have a state ID.

I flew from NYC to Vegas in June and was totally fine. I used my Canadian driver's license. He shouldn't have a problem using his passport though.

And we flew from Arizona to PA to visit my mother in law.I used my Cameroon passport and it was a peice of cake. But tobe double sure, take along the NOA from AOS as a back up..He should be fine.

Bill, I believe when you call the 1-800 number one of the voice prompts asks you, and I quote as much as I remember:

"if you received a notice for some but not all applications filed, and believe some of the applications you filed together were separated, press X"

Excellent tip! After you mentioned it, I also remembered hearing that option. I had a hard time finding it again since it comes after you enter the receipt # and they tell you the status as of a month ago and then tell you they have no other information so don't bother trying to find out anything else. If one does not hang up in disgust at that point and continues to listen they eventually offer option 3 if you think your cases have been separated. Much to my surprise option 3 actually took me to a very nice human who passed me on to another human (not quite so nice) who was not much help and insisted on speaking to Bella. Since human #2 does not speak Spanish we moved on to bilingual human #3 who was also nice and provided the following info:

  1. The different interview times for the kids is "normal" since they have to allocate a certain amount of time for each applicant to keep from overbooking an officer's schedule for the day.
  2. Bella's appointment letter is probably just delayed in the mail and she doubts very seriously (but could not confirm) that the applications have been separated.
  3. It is normal that the kids have been assigned new A#'s since three people can't go through life with the same number. Apparently K2's enter the country using the K1's A# but eventually they must get their own. No explanation why the change was made on the 485 NOA1's and not the 131's & 765's.

In addition, I took advantage of the opportunity and asked if the way I filled out the name on Bella's application (using part of her maiden last name as her new middle name) was going to cause a problem. Unlike the clerk at the biometrics, she thought it would be no problem at all. And if it was, that was something that could be discussed during the interview and adjustments made if necessary on the spot without any delays.

So..... after all the confusion and concern things turned out great and hopefully they will all be approved for GC's in less than a month!

I agree with the other responses. I have lived in the US for 14 years and not once has anyone looked at my I-94 card (other than when I am entering / leaving the US). For purposes of domestic flights, they only look at the name to make sure it's the same as printed on the boarding pass. (I am assuming his passport itself has not expired.) If you want to be totally safe though, it can't hurt to bring the NOA along.
