I guess it varies. We already received our appointment for the 30th of June. It sucks that we can't just walk in and get it done though.

Interesting. So maybe we will hear something in a few days. Congrats finding out your having a girl...that is so exciting. Any names yet?

Or can you? :)

Some people were successfully able to get the BIO done earlier than the appt. date.

Perhaps, you get really extra lucky you can just show your first NOA received and convince them to do it early.

But I"m not wasting $16 in parking just to get sent home. I will go early as soon as an appt. date is received.

Yes, I have read that a lot of people from prior months went in before their appointment date but they at least had an appt. I agree with Leo though, for us it won't be worth it because the office is 3.5 hours from here so we wouldn't want to waste that trip. Hoping for NOAs today!

I consider myself lucky since the Baltimore F.O. is only 15 minutes away, but parking isn't free :(

How would I find out if I can do a walk-in for the biometrics ahead of my appointment? Currently it is scheduled for July 3 (which is a federal holiday this year since the 4th falls on Saturday). For one, I wasn't sure if they made a mistake to schedule me for that day. And it would also be nice if I could do it sooner - not sure if that may speed up processing of the application?

Any of you June filers in San Diego? My bio appointment is for the San Marcos ASC.

I would say walk-in to where you're supposed to have the BIO done, show up early after everybody's had a chance to have breakfast, be extra nice and brief.

Since your appt. is scheduled in an iffy day pull that card out - that the appt. date might be a mistake.

Tell them that since you're "already" in the building, might as well get this done now why drive again and burn more gas? ;)

Show up on a Friday rather than on Monday.

Get the officer(s) on your side but don't cry.

I'd think it's like going to the DMV (sorta).

Again, this is just me.

What you got to lose other than gas, time, patience and money?

Thanks for the good advice, Leo-Feng! I like your suggestion to use the July 3rd uncertainty situation as an excuse to show up early.

Hopefully, the DMV comparison is to the worst case scenario! :) (With the California budget crisis and furloughs/layoffs, the lines at the DMV have become impossible lately...)

Nope, we live in Lynchburg - in between Roanoke & Richmond, and there is an office in Norfolk and one in Washington DC but they are both about the same distance from here. I have a feeling we will be assigned to the DC office because my grandmother is from Germany and has been a Permanent Resident for 50 years, but every 10 years she has to go to DC to do biometrics and all. Last time she went she had a hard time because her fingerprints (they do digital now) weren't showing up well as she is getting older. She and my grandfather had to make 3 trips before they were accepted.

Saturday's mail brought some joy to my life...

As most of you know I have 2 separate concurrent I-130/I-485 at the NATIONAL BENEFIT CENTER in LEE'S SUMMIT, CO.

I've been assigned 2 different A- numbers and I have an infopass appt. set up for 6/23 to "consolidate" these 2 applications.

With that in mind today I received:

-------------------------------------

* FIRST PACKAGE SENT BY LAWYER *

2nd NOA (fingerprint appt.) for 7/7 @ 2pm.

Noticed date / mailed out 06/16 (6 days after the first NOA was issued).

Received home on 06/20

* SECOND PACKAGE SENT BY ME *

2nd NOA (fingerprint appt.) for 7/8 @ 10am

Noticed date / mailed out 06/17 (2 days after the first NOA was issued).

Received home on 06/20

-------------------------------------

It's interesting to see the difference in processing time between the sloppy package the lawyer sent and mine.

I've always thought that the package I prepared with the instructions found here would make some officer's day very happy. It was impeccable w/ color copies of passports, etc.

The lawyer's was/had... missing paperwork, poor, light, photocopies.

Something similar happened w/ the first NOAs: it took 6 days vs. 5 for the NOAs issued from CHICAGO.

Anyone received anything yet??? I'm so happy!

Perhaps I'm confused too. The fingerprint appt. came on an I-797C, Notice of Action.

It does say on the top left, after THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA: "ASC Appointment Notice"

Next to it is the APPLICATION NUMBER box.

I call NOA everything that comes on the I-797C. e.g. 1st NOA, 2nd NOA, etc.

No updates on the USCIS portofolio website though :(

So it is a separate letter. I see. I wish I knew if we even need an appointment. How does one know? Balvino says at the POE they scanned his hand but I don't remember a photo session. Thanks for the update. Hope your having a nice weekend.

I think they just tell you when you have an appointment.

I'm confused too, Leo. I got that you call anything from them a NOA, and I'm glad you feel it's good news but it still hasn't consolidated anything for you. I hope your infopass appt straightens things out for you and that you don't have to pay double. Lawyers suck.

Anything on my end would be nice :( I sent the package on 6/9 and I just got the green certified mail card back on 6/18; check is cashed but still no NOAs :(. It took longer than expected to arrive and then there was a weekend right after arrival...hopefully I'll get something next week!

Have a great weekend everybody!

Chelsea,

If you don't mind I've added a column to the spreadsheet right after I-693 SUBMITTED?

The column reads BIO APPT ISSUED DATE. There we complete the date the appt. was issued/received so we can clearly see when the appt. are issued after the first NOA is received, or not.

What do you think?
