hi,

can someone explain how the "buy it now" thing works? id like to sell something for , lets say, 60 bucks, and i dont want to sell it for less, in case somebody bids less...is that even possible on ebay? if i put "buy it now" will it sell for 60, or again someone has to start bidding and the item will sellwith however much they bid?

bottom line, can i sell with the price i want on ebay or not?

if you want to allow the auction to proceed then the $60 would be set as minimum and it is a Reserve

buy it now is exactly that... you set a price and if someone wan to buy it now for that price then the auction ends...

You have 3 options. You can auction the iteam with a minimum bid of $60, so to win the iteam a buyer wound need to bid more than $60 or the iteam will not be sold.

or

You can place the iteam as a "Sell it Now" if you do that then nobody bids on it it is just a iteam for sale at $60

or

You can have a minimum bit of $60 AND a "Sell it now" so the buyer has a choice to either bid for the iteam or can just buy it now without having to bid for it.

im tryin to sell a few things on ebay, but i've never done it before, so i was a little bit confused with the "buy it now" thing....

to all of u selling on ebay...do u make a lot of profit? or is it more to get rid of things ?:)

To say profit it means that you are at least recovering a portion of the amount you paid for the item and at the same time get rid of unnecessary stuff

I stopped using ebay when they change the feedback system, and forced you to use paypal only.

to many problems.

My Dad was scammed out of $700 once on ebay. He sold an used computer, had it insured, guy paypals it over, Dad sends it, buyer claims he didn't get it(even though it was signed for), reversed the paypal payment, paypal didn't listen to his protests, took the funds immediately back (with extra funds for the "transfers").

"buyer is always right"

So, he was out $700 and the computer.

So - be wary of scams and the such on ebay.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

I'd recommend selling the items on Craigslist. It's free.

and local...

i know, but i live on an AFB and i dont have a DL so it would be harder for me to get out off base and show the items...besides...dont i have to sell them even cheaper on craigslist? believe me i wanna get rid of the tons of clothes, motorcycle and other stuff i have....99% of the stuff i have is new new and i dont really know where to sell it to get a decent price...

TayRivers, you forgot the fourth option (I've seen this personally when bidding on items): put a "reserve" price without minimum bid amount.

sorry to bring this topic up again, but i need your help again...

i recently put my motorcycle on ebay for let's say 3600$ and i put the reserve price 4300$. i got one bid from this guy for 3600 and then he bid again for 4300...so its just 2 bids only from him, and his feedback(score-however you call it) is 0....then i get an email from him asking if he can wire me money - 4500$, im in florida he is in NV....so i wrote him back, wire in paypal, i only take paypal, and how are you going to get the bike cause its pickup only, but he didnt answer me yet....

do you think he is a scammer?

what should i do now?i have 5 days left on the auction and i dont know what to do...is ebay going to make him pay my 4300? or how does it work?

please help...im really lost...
